  • Kevin Yee is the Al Lutz of Walt Disney World

Thank you for covering the travesty that was Star Wars Weekend. Now all you need to do is start posting pictures of trash cans in need of paint and you'll be all set.

    It's a joke you see.

I hung out with Kevin Yee once and we ate at a Wienerschnitzel. I had a chili dog.

Don't flame me--Kevin Yee has made some AWESOME videos and stuff (as seen on VisionsFantastic), but sometimes I think his updates are too short and they ramble on about "boring" things like AP passes or something.

I must agree, lots of fluff, not much substance. Kevin ain't no Al.

That's a way of putting it, he's not an Al. Kevin has his strong points but it doesnt look like his update columns are one of them. He barely mentions park news, and instead, talks about the latest variety of ticket options...

That's funny. I had a chili dog at Wienerschnitzel with Kevin Yee too. Of course... yeah.

Haha I don't read Al or Kevin's columns. What am I doing here again?

WDW is a lot more complicated than DLr.
Other web sites do a pretty good job, as they have years of experience in the in's and out's (mmm, Ins-n-Outs... -- Hey, Kevin, remember those?) of WDW.
Remember, most DL visitors are day trips, and most visitors here (miceage and micechat) are locals and APs. WDW has lots of weeklong visitors looking for tons of info. Kevin would have to do an update per day on the news of the various parks, hotels, and other resort offerings.
"Caribbean Beach Hotel's pool will reopen on Feb 1, ..."

Hey, give the guy a break! :-)

He just moved there last year whereas he worked in DL, wrote a couple fo books, wrote a bunch of articles at websites on DL. His knowledge of all-things DL is very impressive.

I'm sure that he knows a lot about WDW (and probably more than most of us), but I'm sure it pales in comparison to his knowledge and sources at DL.

He is NOT Al, just like Al is NOT Kevin. :-)

Actually, Kevin's articles on FastPASS pointed out blatant flaws in the system was pretty badly needed, IMO. Yeah, he doesn't always have something compelling to write about, but oh well, who does?

Although I'm glad to have Al around, his updates seem a lot more of an endless mantra to me. "This is okay, but should have been done better. This is awful. That is okay but ruined by that which is tacky. The reason these all these bad things keep happening is Eisner and he needs to go." Copy and paste that about three times and you have a generic Al update. Sometimes he gets some really juicy bits, though. And it's nice that we have an army of CMs on this board who cut through the things he only speculates about.

I have to agree with that, although I think that it's great that Al is around to keep Disney on their toes. In general, I find Al's optimism to be a little unwarranted, but that's to be expected from a hardcore Disney fan.

I like Kevin's philosophizing about Big Picture concepts. A sort of "party line" among Disney nerds tends to form about many things, so it's nice to see someone thinking out loud and really trying to figure things out. It's easy for Disney execs to ignore the party line responses, but thoughtful arguments are more difficult to dismiss.

Of course, I find it disgraceful that the company has degraded to the point that it needs outside watchdog reports to keep them in line (I can only imagine what things would be like without them), but I think we're all much better off with Kevin and Al in the world.
