BURBANK, September 25, 2007. . . A first-time ever programming event for kids and families, Disney Channel's global sensation "High School Musical" and its sequel, the basic cable TV ratings record-breaker, "High School Musical 2," will be presented on one night, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 (6:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel U.S.
The cultural phenomenon will also come to the American Forces Network on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5, with telecasts of "High School Musical" (1700 viewer time), the premiere of "High School Musical 2" (1900) and the debut of the "High School Musical 2 Sing-Along" (2100). An encore of the "High School Musical 2 Sing-Along" will be presented on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7 (1500).
American Forces Network is available to a worldwide network of overseas U.S. Department of Defense broadcast affiliates, base cable TV systems and via AFN Direct-to-Home satellite.
Since its January 2006 premiere, "High School Musical" has reached over 250 million unduplicated viewers worldwide, including its recent premiere in China on broadcaster CCTV.
Headline-worthy ratings on Disney Channels in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong were delivered by "High School Musical 2" since its record-setting premiere in the U.S. last month.
