  • New Series of Photography from Annie Leibovitz puts more Stars in Fantasies for ads

    31 October 2007

Elaborate sets and costuming went into the transformation of Weisz, Andrews, Breslin and Federer. Soundstages morphed into pixie-dusted spectacles as Leibovitz clicked away.

"It's thrilling to have an opportunity to re-create the characters we all loved as children," Leibovitz says. "The stories are real to my own children now, and their belief inspires me."

Dreamlike images in a year of dreams was a natural, added Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Federer traded his tennis racket for a regal sword, posing on a rock as the gallant King Arthur.

I really like these ads. One thing I was thinking about is how they are more fantasies for the celebs than perfect casting. I wonder if the celebs get to make character suggestions. That said I really like Tina Fey as Tinker Bell.

That's what I was saying earlier. They don't seem to be going for precise casting. Nor have they been. In the first group they had Beyonce as Alice I think. She certianly does not look like the classic character. I wonder how they are picking which celebrity for which character.

Look at Mikhail's legs! Wow - they haven't aged a bit!

I don't really like Giselle as Wendy - I'm not feeling it.

I think Jessica Biel is beautiful, I just don't like the pose she's in.

As for the Aladdin scene - I like it!

You're dead if you aim only for kids.
Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.

I liked the first batch-- and I like the Pocahontas one... but somehow these pics don't actually stir up the magic the way the first set did. Just my opinion.

^ I agree. These are a lot more interpretive which I really did not like. The first few sets were magical, dreamy, and actually stuck more to the core of the character. Rachel Weisz as Snow White is probably my favorite. In this new batch the one with Jessica Biel is only one I like but even in that one she's missing an arm band and the necklace. JLo and M Anthony look like they're advertising the Sahara Casino in Vegas, why is her outfit not teal/blue? And what the hell is up with Woopie? She looks like some generic genie (Kazaam's sister?) or some random variation of Califea. Why is Giselle in a white nigthy and not a blue sleeping gown?

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."
                    Disneyland. My Anti-drug.

With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

Haha yah... I think Whoopi was the big "WTF" moment in this batch. Followed by Jlo and Marc Antony. I dunno.. I somehow was hoping for more likeable talent presented.

Love Mikhail, but he's way too old. That's just creepy.

Also, Annie missed the boat having Aishwarya Rai as Jasmine. I realize that she's not a famous American celebrity, but she would've been perfect. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0706787/
