  • Joe Ranft has passed on

I saw this and was very saddened.

"Pixar story man Joe Ranft was killed last night in an automobile accident. Joe was not only responsible for story work on Toy Story, Bugs Life, and Cars, he voiced characters in every Pixar film since Toy Story.

Oh my God. That's terrible. Very sad. It seems recently a lot of key figures of Disney as well as Pixar have passed on. Goodbye, Joe.

            What voices did he do?

Jacque the french fish in Finding Nemo
              Wheezy in Toy Story 2
              Heimlich in A Bugs Life

As well as additional voices. He was also a co-writer on Toy Story, worked on ALL of the Pixar films, A Nightmare Before Christmas and is credited as one of the people who save Emporers New Groove.

              That's really sad.

I read an article that the passenger in the car died too. Does anyone know who the passenger is?

When will Pixar put up a tribute to him on their website?

                    Here is another article:

                    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr..._id=1001017139

According to the article the driver "Elegba Earl, 32, of Los Angeles" was killed, and another passenger "Eric Frierson, 39, of Los Angeles, survived by climbing through the sun roof".

                    Very sad.

Heimlich was one of my very favorite characters in my very favorite Pixar movie and now he has no voice.

                      Moment of silence please.

I'm getting really tired of reading about things like this. why do we have to keep losing the good, talented people. why can't it ever be the no talent hacks that are famous for no good reason?!

I've very sad about this. I can't imagine how those feel who were close to Joe. I've only met him through the Pixar DVDs and the films he influenced, but I feel this is a great loss.

Nice collection of thoughts here: Cartoonbrew

Peace to Joe's family and friends.
