  • Do You Know this Children's Book?

Ok, a different thread made me think of posting this here... This was one of my favorite books as a kid and NOBODY has any idea what its title is!

I _think_ it was a chapter book, but it had a few pictures (I think... I remember a picture of a cabin on the lake).

It was about this brother and sister. Usually they went to their grandmother's cabin at the lake for the summer but for reasons I don't remember, they couldn't go one year.

So, they ran away to the lake anyway. I remember they rode a bus to get there. Once there, they had to hide in the woods 'cuz people knew they weren't supposed to be there. So, they bought camping supplies. I remember they warmed a can of beans on the campfire.

I do think another kid, a boy who they knew, found them. I'm sure stuff happened but I don't remember.

Does this sound even vaguely familiar to anyone?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

It doesn't sound familiar to me.....and my ten year old is in bed still. I'll have her read your description later. She reads about two chapter books or more a day, so she's gone through a TON this year alone.

Check with Loganberry Books. They have a thing called the "book stumper" where you can enter information in like you did and SOMEONE will likely have an answer.

I did this a few years ago with a stumper of a book and got a correct answer back in just a few days.

      Good luck.
