Very interesting news. It's the first 2D animated film to be retrofitted like this. It's interesting how they've tweaked these films over the years to squeeze more money out of them. A few years back IMAX was the big thing. I saw the Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D and it was pretty amazing that they could go back and create 3D where there was none before...now I'll have to go see Beauty and the Beast once again in the theater to see how it looks.
It's really too bad they can't truly recreate this 3D experience at home yet, but maybe with high-def they can finally do something.
Could you imagine seeing the attempted escape from the Cave of Wonders in 3D?!
I would much rather see Aladdin in 3d, than B&tB. And If they did the escape scene from the Cave of Wonders, I would really like to see them enhance that scene! Even the opening scene where you pan down into Agrabah would be pretty neat, too.
After seeing how Nightmare transferred to 3D, I'm not so sure that turning these mostly 2d Animated features into 3D, will turn out very well. I would think that Roger Rabbit would even be a better choice to attempt 3D as those characters were colored to look more 3d, with the shading, etc. the B&tB characters just were not designed to look that 3D, except for the ballroom scene.
Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. Ya can't cover pooh with honey and 'spect people ta like it.
