  • Is Corpse Bride ok for the Kiddies????

Now that Corpse Bride is open nation wide and everyone is getting the chance to see it can anyone let me know if they think it's OK for the younger set? My daughter is 5 and wants to see it but my wife and I aren't so sure we should take her. She has seen and loves Nightmare Before Christmas. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I did not feel there was anything they likely could not handle- even the death of the corpse bride is handled in a way that makes it tolerable.

My whole family saw it last night. It was great! My 4 year old cousin who is little jumpy LOVED it! I say take all the kids.

We saw it last night and there were lots of little kidlets in the house. If your little one likes "Nightmare Before Christmas" ,there shouldn't be a problem. It is not as funny as the other film, rather sweet and sad in places. The human characters are much scarier than the dead folk. We liked it a lot. It's pretty short, 77minutes.

I thought it was a lot darker than Nightmare, and as a result I wouldn't compare the two or use a blanket statement like "if they were ok with Nightmare..."...

Corpse Bride goes places that Nightmare didn't. The themes are more adult, as well as the characters. The film is loud at some places and could easily frighten small children (i.e. when we first meet the bride). There's also a small swear word (damn), and other events that may be a bit too much for some.

I say screen it first, it differs from person to person.

That is great Jango. I hope to see it soon as well. It sounds like a really good movie. I have not heard to many negative things about this one.

I won't be taking mine to it. They did not like nightmare and I am sure they will not like this one. I really did not like nightmare either.

Aww but Star Wars Ep. 4 and 2 had the word damn and kids love it! I actually think it might be boring for some little kids. I mean the real world is purposely drab and boring and the underworld has some slow moments as well. I think kids might like it though, its really not that scary.

Until we got the first shot of the underworld my daughter kept asking if the movie was going to be all black and white. She saw the colors but they were too subtle for her taste.

My son is 8yo and he himself tells me what movies he would like to see and what may scare him. I would have loved to take him to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but he said no, he didn't like the original one (which he saw when he was younger) and was scared by it. Not that I want him not to try things, I also don't want him forced into something he isn't comfortable with. I will probably let him watch it on DVD where he can play his toys while having it playing so if it is too much for him we can always stop it.
