  • "Beauty and the Beast" to be given 3D polish for Winter 2010

Our theatre's 3D Coming Attractions list was updated some time this past week, and on it, much to our surprise, was a re-release of Beauty and The Beast in 3D.

    Thoughts? Opinions? Complaints? Hopes? Fears?

      1. I don't think I'll go see it.
      2. I think this 3d-ification of every previous movie is a lazy alternative to creating new stories.
      3. Stop!
      4. I hope they stop!
      5. I fear they won't stop!
One way to stop them is via the box office. I've put my foot forward to say I won't be seeing it, but that is far as I'll go. Everyone else will have to make their own decision on this and every film ever made.

It's also getting it's Platinum Edition DVD re-released on DVD and Blu in Fall 2010.

Geez, I really need to keep up with the news here. My only excuse was that I was preparing for a graduation gallery show on Dec. 10 during the first announcement. I have no excuse for the one released last April, however. Now I feel bad.

If I know my theatre's demographic, there will still be families going to this and the Toy Story re-releases simply because it is in 3D.

You didn't watch the IMAX re-release, did you? They added "Human Again," extending the scene after "There's Something There (That Wasn't There Before)" that leads into the iconic climax of the film. It's a nicely done scene, in my opinion, but does nothing to add to the film. At least "Morning Report" was cute.
