  • Walt Disney (The Movie)?

This may be out of place, but I'm just throwing this out there. I was at Disneyland the other night and started thinking about how much Walt Disney has impacted our culture all over the world. So I started thinking ( a dangerous past time, I know). I've seen movies about all sorts of famous people in history, but don't recall any about Walt Disney. If I'm wrong please let me know, I would love to see. If I'm right, how come no movie of what I consider an American legend?
I would love to see a full on motion picture abouts Walt's life.......high points , and lows.

No, I don't mean the type where Disney (the company) sugar coats everything.
    Just curious.
    Thanks

I honestly think there is not enough drama to form a well balanced plot.

Usually the success of motion pictures surrounding entertainment legends thrives from their insecurities and addictions.

I understand his death was tragic but If Walt's life was to be made a movie I fear directors will try and add conflicts that never truly existed or play them up to seem much worse than they really were.

It would be a good documentary, but Walt Disney is no Ray Charles. He himself would make for a happy yet (dare I say it) boring movie in today's standards.

Look what they did with Titanic. The facts are just not good enough, so they go in and create all of these additional social complications to juice up the plot. To do this to Walt Disney would just be disrespectful to him and his family.

Also, I don't think Disney fans would ever be satisfied with ANY so-called "Walt look-alike."

The Neal Gabler biography of Walt Disney made an excellent read. Of course, that doesn't mean it would make a good movie, but it seemed like there was plenty of real life drama.

BTW, regarding Titanic, the Broadway musical that came out around the same time as the James Cameron film claimed to be a lot more based on historical fact, although I'm not enough of an expert on Titanic history to know if that's true.

If you ever want to see a really intensely historically innacurate Titanic, check out Titanic: The Animated Musical. Or The Nostalgia Critic's review of it, which is how I found out about it. It has a rapping dog in it. A rapping dog!

        Thanks,
Its really sad that someones life is not good enough for a movie unless there is a lot of drama, or you have to add to it. My 6 year old daughter is always asking questions about Walt, and I thought it was interesting that there wasn't any kind of movie.

This one was interesting dFX News - Walt Disney TV Special - The Man Behind the Myth
Walt's grandson was executive producer. It was put together by the Disney family, not the Disney Company, and was Diane's idea.

Spielberg will direct, with Shia LaBeouf starring as a young Walt Disney.
