Michael Douglas: Singing and Same-Sex Smooching

Michael Douglas is getting ready to sing and kiss…Matt Damon.


Mr. Douglas told me he's going to try real hard to do his own singing in the upcoming Liberace movie, in which he stars as the late showman with Damon playing his real-life much younger lover.


"I got his books and I got his tapes," Douglas told me this morning at Michael Kors' Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show in NYC. "Right now, we're doing Wall Street 2 until the end of the year, so [the Liberace film] is scheduled for next summer."

As for duplicating Liberace's musical chops, Douglas revealed…

LOL.. I'll admit it. My best friend's grandma lived in Palm Springs and Liberace was one of her dearest friends. So I have many memories of visiting down in Palm Springs and having lunch and/or dinner with "Lee."

I'm going to be watching this film.

Met him a few times...and "Mamma Maloof" (the grandma) always refered to Lee as "One of the girls." LOL I absolutely adored the man.

This could be a very entertaining movie. After all, he was one of the most unique entertainers. I only remember watching him on tv, the Tonight show with Johnny Carson.

I'm curious as to what comes to mind when people recall Liberace, today. There are so many things that come to mind. A sort of word associate game based on Liberace. Of course Piano with Candelabra, His sparkly outfits, the many rings he wore, his distinctive voice, warm friendly personality, always enjoying entertaining and talking to others. I really hadn't thought about him in years, but it fun to go back and see how he entertained

Well of course! He performed in Las Vegas, and all performers are required by Law to be "Conspicuously Garishly Ostentatious". It's true! Even Elvis had to turn flashy!

My dad is a huge Liberace fan. I remember seeing a biography about him a loooong time ago on A&E (back when A&E actually meant 'arts and entertainment) From what I remember, his personal life was not was happy as his stage persona.

Sounds like it could me a good movie. Hope they stay true to reality though.
