I was listening to Radio Disney the other day... and I realized that the quality is not as good as many FM stations... so why is Radio Disney on AM?

Re: Why is Radio Disney in AM?
This may be a rude answer but here goes! The station is geared towards kids and 8 year olds are not demending high quality when they are listening to their hits. AM is most likely cheaper and those kids with out CD's, IPODS or MP3 players will have to settle for less quality.

Yup, what Aashee said. AM stations are cheaper, period. Disney saves money and gets a station with a signal that is probably received in more areas and by more kids than an FM station would be.
And really...a kid that is happy listening to Miley and the Jonases probably does NOT care about sound quality. Or bleeding ears.
