Someone has posted what appears to be the first 10 minutes of the upcoming Disney movie The Princess and the Frog on YouTube. Better check it out before it gets pulled.

They already previewed the first 10 minutes of this film at the D23 Expo, so the first five minutes is not much of a surprise hitting Youtube.

Actually, they previewed the first 30 minutes at D23Expo, and I though it was wonderful. I cannot wait to see the whole thing. Great story, combined with classical animation. Plus, who doesn't love New Orleans... I'm there.

Yes, this is from the Snow White Diamond Edition.

Also the 30 minutes previewed at D23, plus the song sequence from later in the film, were fantastic.

Disney is whoring this footage out anywhere they can. They even posted the first 5 mins right on the public website... and then more on the Snow White Disc... 'leaked' would be a bit strong. Maybe it should be 'yet another place to see it'

I'm glad Disney is showing this footage wherever they can- it's big news that there's a new hand-drawn animation film, and a Princess one to boot! Plus it looks great from everything shown so far.

On another film note, I was surprised by how many people at D23 apparently didn't know about Rapunzel. I heard a few conversations after the announcement of Mandy Moore to the effect of "When he mentioned a Rapunzel film I was excited, until he said it was computer animated."

I loved this clip, I just kind of hope they don't completely stereotype Southerners, being from TN I get enough of Hollywood making people from the South either hicks, "oil tycoon" characters or Dolly Parton clones (or Hannah freaking Montana).

That sneak peek has been pulled out of Youtube and elsewhere. I have a feeling that Disney didn't like the negative reaction it's getting from some...that it's too saccharine, too full of cutesy warm fuzzies etc. Count me among that crowd. I want Disney to get back into 2D, but this looks...well, frankly like one of the cheapquels (some of which had decent animation). Very generic, bland, cliche, and not very funny, particularly the bit with the kitten. *shrug* Well, I'm sure the kids, particularly little girls, will like it.

That's a dead on assessment, sad to say.

Still, clip reels can give all sorts of different impressions of a work in progress -- depending on who selects the clips. I'm holding out hope that maybe it was one of those boneheaded Disney marketing dweebs whose idea of animation is "kiddie cartoonz," with the result that the clip reel skewed to the pablum side... and that the film overall will play better than the clips suggest.

One can hope...
