  • Disney, Zemeckis and Yellow Submarine

Forgive me if this has been posted, it's a couple month old.

Remaking Yellow Submarine? I think it will be in good hands.

From the D23 comes a Press Release on Zemeckis' YELLOW SUBMARINE Remake! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

I don't necessarily think it's in good hands. As a major fan of The Beatles and the Yellow Submarine film, I'll say that this decision to remake this seems way too corporate. First off, although Robert Zemeckis made some great movies in the past, lately he's definitely been slipping. He's stuck on this whole motion-capture craze, and it really seems like a somewhat useless technique to me. Second, if Disney's involved, you know they're going to make it much more tame and family-friendly, where the original movie was very psychadellic and witty and weird.

I can't help but think they're making this due to the resurgence of Beatle mania, which was brought on by the release of The Beatles RockBand and the remastered albums. Therefore, you know this is being made because the Beatles are super hot again, and they want to cash-in on the craze. Bad idea. What's even wrong with the original movie?

      Ditto.
HEY HOLLYWOOD... stop remaking 'classics'.... the hit to miss ratio of good remakes is against you.
