  • Chris Pine: from Captain Kirk to Jack Ryan

Paramount Pictures is negotiating with Chris Pine to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan in the reboot of the franchise based on the Tom Clancy novels.

Pine is positioned to topline his second Par franchise. He played James T. Kirk in "Star Trek," the J.J. Abrams-directed summer hit, and will reprise the role in the sequel.

I think he's actually a pretty good choice for a younger version of this character. However, considering how long they've been talking about rebooting this franchise and how many names have been mentioned as the new Ryan (including older Ryans returning), I'm gonna have to take a "believe it when I see it" stance on this news.

He's better than Ben Affleck. Hunt for Red October is still one of the greatest movies EVER. Don't EVEN try to remake that movie without Sean Connery.

        So we've had:
        The Shadow
        Indiana Jones
        Daredevil
and now Captain Kirk as Jack Ryan.
