Daniel Battsek has ankled his post as prexy of Miramax. News comes less than a month after Disney significantly downscaled the division's release sked and folded much of its operations into the Mouse House's larger film group (Daily Variety, Oct. 5).
In a statement, newly appointed Walt Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross said, "With the change in direction at Miramax, we appreciate Daniel's desire to leave the organization. During his 18 years of service, he has brought some very prestigious and award-winning films to the studio from 'Calendar Girls' to 'The Queen' to 'No Country for Old Men.' We wish Daniel the very best on his future endeavors."
