Legendary Hollywood producer Robert Evans (Chinatown, Urban Cowboy) and former Paramount studio honcho has come to the defense of besieged DISNEY CEO Michael Eisner in a nearly 5000-word rollicking screed exclusively obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

Evans argues that a well-orchestrated PR campaign to overthrow Eisner by Walt Dinsey nephew Roy Disney is 'reminiscent of Goebels propagating the heroics of Adolf Hitler.'

First off, let me state, it is his board, and he can do what he wishes, with new boards like MiceChat, I will just spend my time here... I have been trying to decide where to cut back with all the new boards anyways... (plus someone new in my life, which is a very good thing

But if you want to go check out his boards, and place your opinions about what the current subject matter is, that is your right...

BUT Please do NOT talk about me, or attack any user at the site...

Just things like if they claim that everything is "peachy keen", and you don't agree with it... well, don't be shy, just make your points without being rude....

Darkbeer I know your situation all so well! I think I have been "reprimanded" on at least 3 or 4 other boards. Granted the same posts there may get me in hot water here but I still think at least for now that MC is a very open forum, I am quite grateful we can speak our mind here.

When you have the well known big boards monitored like a valium prescribed happy chamber pumped full of Disneyfied nitrous oxide and the most popular threads are "hugs" and future cruiseline bookings it just makes me feel sick, and I rarely visit those sites anymore as all I see all too well the manipulation on the level of seducing posters into being part of a "Moonies" type of group.

Then you have the folks that have more shady interests like the one I experianced a couple of years ago on a Vacation rental forum, this individual had a qausi status of an administrator and repeatedly made negative comments on any poster that was suggesting rental agencies other than the one he openly supported.

And the cruise line boards! Populated by my guess of quite a few Disney employees or more than likely an outside source that continuously over and over kept posting what an extreme adventure it was the ultimate Disney experiance yadda yadda yadda, when you lurk there after a couple of years you see the apparent repitition of posts, its all a game to lure, seduce and convince the readers that because this is the number 1 Disney internet site the advice is golden, especially the eastern US boards cause of WDW and the Cruise line.

I have also seen the monopoly of boards of posters that all they do is pretend they are god about anything Disney, like its a private club here fella and ya gotta pay the dues to be a member.... :bow:

If and when we start getting suggestions to follow the Mice Chat way or hit the hiway is the day when MC has nothing for me, eventually it may go that route, I remember when I was one of the first member of Mouseinfo, Laughingplace and even Mouseplanet, they were good places at first and then the invasion started. I could tin hat theorize it was something that only an Eisner could think of, like recruiting a group of individuals to infiltrate a discussion board show that they know all the "secret stuff" have the latest rumors etc, and then you see them become monitors and thus it becomes a Disneylike Matrix. :lol: We all live our fantasy in a Disney Matrix, I like that one!!!

Anyhow I am hoping these thoughts of mine have opened the eyes of those here that its possible to ruin a good board if the moderation is illdirected or preached upon as a holy roller baptists revival... :devil:

A good discussion board should never have a status system based upon member subscription nor should it be a socialist aspired forum where if you speak too loud you get castrated....

Man, that sight has so many Eisner cronies it's ridiculous....
They have all said I should get banned fromt the sight, because I'm critical about parks being built cheaply, etc.
They also badmouth Al Lutz allot, which is ridiculous, because Al loves Disneyland...
He (like me) just wants it restored to it's former glory, and knows WHY it got in that shape in the first place. (Pressler, Harris, Eisner, bad management)

I am a Disney fan, and if I disagree with the direction that Michael Eisner has taken the company, and if I don't like the way he's building theme parks, then I have a right to say so, and not get banned from the discussion boards. I'm sure there are people at Disney that read alot of these to see what the on-line community is saying. I have been going to Disney theme parks since 1977. I think that gives me a little insight, and room to agree/disagree with what Michael Eisner is doing with the company. I'll give you an example:

Tommorrowland at Disneyland right now is a disgrace! That land should have never gotten into the shape that it is now. If he really cared anything about the company/his image, he would invest the money to shape that whole land up and have it "fixed" by the 50th, but Eisner is more cocerned with short-term and his bonuses. And before anybody says anything about Space and Buzz being opened by the 50th, I'm talking about something on the peoplemover track, the subs, Innoventions, and empty skyway station, etc.

Another example: Everybody is making a big hooplah about Matt Ouimet fixing up Disneyland! That's great, and I SO APPLAUD Matt, and know he is doing everything he can, but the only way he could get the money to start fixing things up, was to beg Bob Iger and Michael for it. Michaels answer: Sure, you can fix up/paint Disneyland, but your gonna have to make the guest pay for it. So Eisner made them go up on admission! As if people aren't paying enought as it is.

As for him leaving, I'll believe it when I see it. I could be wrong, but how much do you want to bet that Bob Iger becomes CEO, and Michael tries to stay on as Chairman, or Chief Creative Officer?

Last but not least, going back to the title of this forum. Don't any of you guys find it a little funny that as soon as this book, "Disney War," came out, some hasbeen in Hollywood starts trying to smear Roy Disney. I gurantee you Michael called that guy and said, "Hey Robert, I sure could use a favor!" And the horrible thing about it, Michael alienated the one person that was instrumental to him getting the job in the first place! I remember when all of that drama, with Saul Steinberg trying to take over and sell Disney off in parts back in the 80's, and Ron Miller having to reisgn. I also remember Roy and Stan bringing in Michael and Frank to fix the company.

I know, I'm starting to ramble, but I just love this company, and want to see it restored to it's former glory!

If Disney allows industry and local park prices to outpace them, they lose their perception as a premium park. Now, I'm not going to get into the discussion of other decissions that are jeopardizing that perception because I agree that there are, but price point is a quick and easy way to position yourself as a premium destination. Honestly, revenue and park spending is barely linked to admission. Admission is a tiny percentage of the profits they make. Like movie theaters, the big bucks are in concessions and merchandise.

What exactly do you disagree with? The demonstratable fact that Disneyland's ticket price increases have mirrored increases of other local parks? The demonstratable fact that ticket revenue is but a small percentage of the park operating/improvement budget? Yes, Disneyland's tickets are currently slightly higher than the other local parks but they've always been. They've done nothing but keep pace with industry increases.

But discussion boards are just that discussion, and anyone's opinion should be shared, so long as it is not directed at a single user in a personal way (for example, I don't like Golden Dreams, you might... I speak my opinion, and you say you like it... great, we can discusss the points we agree with, and those we don't... but it is another matter when you say my opinion is a bunch of B.S., and I don't know what I am talking about..)

Sometimes it is a fine line, and alas, all of us are human (which normally is a good thing) but sometimes we make mistakes and cross the line.... I think the trick is trying to stay in "heated debate" mode and away from personal...

Ironic, but the issue that got me asked to no longer post started when Marcie (who is NOT a fan of Al) mentioned me by name, then we got into some discussions, which I (and I have to admit, have a skill to do internet research) proved her wrong on a few things, and since the owner and her are good friends.. well, I should have seen it coming... but I couldn't let her get away with mis-stating facts thet I KNEW were wrong...

I don't regret what I did... and I think Marcie is a fine person, we have shared multiple e-mails, and have always been civil to each other... But sometimes politics gets in the way...

But sometimes it is just best to say thanks, but we need to go seperate ways...

The only issue I have with it is A) freedom of speech, yes they are private boards, but when you require everyone to think or agree a certain way, well... I think that is wrong... some of my best friends have a totally different political view than I do, but it doesn't matter, they are still good people, we can still hang together...

B), folks reading that board won't get the whole truth, but a filtered version, one with LOTS of spin, and Rose colored glasses.....

Darkbeer, the person you mentioned is also the reason I choose not to post there anymore. I made a comment about how upset I was over being told misinformation by CMs on a particular visit, and how I think the CMs should be trained better, or maybe Disney was "covering up" the real information just to save money (as I've had personal experience of being told to do*as* a CM in prior days). And, needless to say, my head was practically ripped off and I was told that I was being "unfair", "dishonest", and "didn't know what I was talking about". I would have had no problem with being told "Hey, I've never experienced that. It doesn't sound like something Disney would do." But, no.... I was basically treated as an "enemy".

So, because of her, I've never felt welcomed there since.

Welcome to the real world boys. Owners of newspapers have been editing the content of their rags for years. Freedom of speech guarantees your right to say what you want, as well as guide the direction your own media outlet. There is no reason you cannot say what you want: they just dont want you to say it on the board that they pay for, and that is also their right. Just because you have a guarantee to speak, doesnt mean you have a guarantee that everyone wants to listen to you.

So, get over it. You have your own boards. Say what you want there.
