Re: Disney/Pixar removes captioning from "Up" DVD
Just another for Disney to squeeze as much money as possible from us.
"Hey if you want captions, you have to pony up and BUY it... suckers!"

I never use them, but sad for people that do.

Re: Disney/Pixar removes captioning from "Up" DVD
^^ It's just the rental copies they took the captioning off of. Apparently Disney thinks captioning is a "bonus feature". WTF?

Captioning is very expensive. Suppose that had something to do with it?

Re: Disney/Pixar removes captioning from "Up" DVD
There's also a flaw on the Canadian UP DVD. The first screen that appears is the language selection. You have a choice of English, Descriptive English (don't know what that is), and French. If you choose English, then the trailers play, but with a problem. The sound is in English, but the text in the trailers is in French. Everything else on the DVD is fine, it's just the trailers that are affected.
As I found out over on the Ultimate Disney boards, all the Canadian UP DVDs are like this.

Re: Disney/Pixar removes captioning from "Up" DVD
Did they remove the TV option, or is it not even an option on the Disc to select the hard of hearing option?
I will watch movies with closed captioning when I'm in bed so I don't wake anybody up and sometimes the TV option doesn't work on lots of discs. But they ALL have the option for hard of hearing on the disc itself.

Re: Disney/Pixar removes captioning from "Up" DVD
Whoa. That....is crazy. I almost always have the closed captioning on my tv. Not that I'm hard of hearing, but sometimes, it's hard for me to understand what they are saying. So, of course...I use it on movies too. Or, the subtitles.
I can't believe they removed that. It's horrible.

Disney/Pixar removes captioning from "Up" DVD
Wow. EPIC FAIL.
Pixar: Disney Removes Closed Captioning From "Up" Rental Release
Ok it's for the rental release only, but that's still really stupid. Not everyone likes to buy DVDs and many people out there are deaf/hard of hearing, so captioning is the only way they can enjoy movies and TV. Captioning isn't a "bonus" feature. WTF?Tags: None
