Not surprising. I have had the awful feeling since Ross took over that the studio is going to concentrate mostly on lower cost junk, like the Hannah Montana movie. Low budget AND good 'branding' which Ross loves so much. I hate to see the Disney Studios name end up on almost direct-to-video garbage. Let's hope I'm wrong.

also from the article:
Studio sez event pics like "20,000 Leagues," "John Carter of Mars" and "Tron" are still priority under new chief Rich Ross. Disney’s next big water-based shoot will likely be the fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Pic is expected to set sail in May, with Rob Marshall in talks to direct.
Traditionally ALL studios typically have a standard mix of lower/mid-range budgeted and the larger, franchise "tent pole" genre films, the studio will continue along the same.
Only difference here is that they now have a guy in place that has previously and consistently brought in product for the company that has generated Billions for the company from very modestly-budgeted productions.

Well, the good thing is that McG is no longer involved. I don't know who it is that keeps giving this guy movies to direct. Maybe it's the masterpieces that were Charlies Angels 1 and 2?
Yeah, McG not being involved is certainly nothing to be disappointed about. Maybe now, if the project starts up again, it will be with a director who doesn't outright suck.
That, at least is a positive cause for hope...
