Rocky Horror vs. Grease

Another conversation between my husband and me. He says Grease is the better. I say Rocky Horror is.


What do you think?

IMO, the two are totally incomparable. Both are absolutely amazing, both are classics and both can (and do) serve a totally different audience.

I love both of them. I'm going with Grease only because it was good from start to finish and the ending of Rocky Horror wasn't good IMO.

As already said, you can't really compare the two.

I don't mind Grease, but I'm not a fan per se.

Rocky Horror is hard to classify. It's kind of awful when viewed in a vacuum, but see it live with props and audience participation and it's a blast.

I'd probably call Grease the better movie, but I'll take a midnight showing of Rocky Horrow over it anyday.

As a former member of the RH 'Erotic Nightmares' cast, I'm going to have to go with RHPS.

Grease is only good if you are doing Karaoke.

I gotta go with GREASE! I think RHPS really starts to suck after Meat Loaf dies.

It really is Apples and Oranges, but as films go, Grease probably takes the edge. As moviegoing experiences go, if people are doing the whole performance thing, RHPS is hard to beat.

Well, I realize that they are completely different...in almost every aspect, except for the fact that they are both musicals. But, would we be comparing them if they were exactly alike?

I think they both have great entertainment value...but, maybe cater to completely different audiences.

I still prefer RHPS over Grease. I can be in the worst slump ever...and all you have to do is pull up the Time Warp on Youtube...and I'm gonna smile, hop out of my seat and take that step to the right.

not really. My way of thinking is this...

You tend to gravitate towards specific genres. If you like RHPS, you're more than likely going to enjoy Sweeney Todd and Little Shop.

So, there's no real comparison there. They are both musicals aimed at people with specific tastes and sense of humor.

But. Comparing Grease and RHPS..that not only compares two completely different musicals. It also compares genres. I suppose it's actually testing what genre people lean more towards. Dark humor or light, airy fun.

Hairspray...the remake is (in my opinion) best categorized with....um...Glitter. That movie was TORTURE
