    I read this on LATimes.com. They quoted one charge as "possession of a handgun by a felon". I didn't know he'd been convicted of a prior felony.

      I bet he's a non-violent felon. It stinks that some people who have felonies for non-violent offences can't carry guns.... Thats just a guess, he may have something violent on is record.

        I read this in today's Register. Why they were reporting on an LA minor issue is anyone's guess. Maybe because the suspect's name is Disney...

          California state law prohibits possession of firearms by certain persons who were convicted of felonies or misdemeanors specified in State law;

          are addicted to any narcotic drug;

          are prohibited as a condition of probation;

          are subject to restraining orders;

          were adjudged wards of the juvenile court (until age 30);

          or are mentally ill as defined in State law.

          A firearm cannot be transferred to a minor (under 21 for handguns; under 18 for long guns) except in limited circumstances. Handgun owners must pass a safety course or show proof of exemption.

            Re: Walt Disney's grandson arrested for felony gun possession

            The grandson of the late Walt Disney has pleaded not guilty to drug and gun charges in a Los Angeles court room.

            Patrick Disney Miller was taken into custody on $550,000 bail after his arraignment Thursday on the 19 felony counts.

            The 42-year-old Miller was arrested earlier this month after a search warrant was executed at his Woodland Hills home.

            Authorities say police found 13 handguns, a rifle, an illegal assault rifle and various drugs. Miller is barred from owning guns or ammunition following a 2005 conviction on drug possession in Fresno.

            Miller faces more than eight years in prison if convicted.
