  • Disney Sells Mighty Ducks of Anaheim

One of my husband's favorite lines is "What kind of Mickey Mouse operation buys a hockey organization?" Well, it seems that the organization behind the Mouse has found a buyer for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Henry Samueli and his wife have agreed to buy the team from Disney. The amount of the sale has yet to be disclosed.

Here's a good article about the sale.

For those Ducks fans out there who are concerned that the team might be moved to a different city, this quote should ease your fears:

"Our acquisition of the team assures that the Mighty Ducks will remain in the hands of local ownership committed to keeping the team in Orange County and putting a consistent winner on the ice."
I just hope that when the season starts again that I might have the chance to run into Pierre Lacroix again when the Ducks & the Avs play each other.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

May the Gumballs Be with You...Always.

    NO GOATS!

Henry Samueli is the name sake of UCI's school of engineering.

Yeah, that's all I really have to add. I suppose it shows that he has some stake in OC, for what that's worth.

Any idea as to the reason for the sale? Why doesn't Disney want the ducks?
Anyone up for a Colorado Micechatters meet-up?

He's also the namesake of UCLA's school of engineering.
..started Broadcom, somewhere around 200 on the world's richest people list.

And that is all I have to add.
          Hope it's a good move.

Indeed. Didn't they sell the Angels after they won the World Series?

Yes, they did. (I still wish the Twins would have won.) Although last summer Disney still had the winning team's photo, etc. at the Archives and it has been seen in recent pictures. I wonder if they got rid of the memory of owning the team?
