Captain EO coming back to Disneyland Feburary 2010

It's official, the long rumored return of Captain EO to Disneyland is happening in February 2010. Originally rumored to return by Al Lutz in an article back in July, there were many delays leading to this announcement.

Captain EO originally ran from 1986 - 1997, but now a whole new group of Disneyland guests will get to experience Michael Jackson on the big screen.

Honey I Shrunk the Audience will be removed from the Magic Eye Theater in the coming weeks. Captain EO will have a special limited-run engagement, and no plans have been announced for the theater after this run.

YES!!! I'll be in Disneyland in February and I loved this show as a kid. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, and I can't wait to see this show again. R.I.P. Michael Jackson, your music live on sir.

If they are giving one blogger that much power over them, then they are fools. Rather than trying to make Al look bad and calling him a liar (when he was actually right), they should have just announced it. Now, Al looks better than ever and the folks at Disney who lied to the LA Times and OC Register, among others, have proven themselves to be untrustworthy. Lesson to Disney writers - don't listen to the folks who tell you that Al doesn't know what he is talking about. Because he does.

In the end, the folks who read these boards are at least 100% better informed than those who take everything Disney says as true.

Yeah!!!

This has officially been a great day for me. I've seen EO a few times on YouTube... but it left Disneyland ten years before my first visit to the park. So this will be AWESOME for me and all those who have yet to see it as it was meant to be seen.

well im going tomorrow and wish that i could of seen it but i will be diff going this summer so i am excited. if dusney thought that people would come to the park just for this, well they are right and i don't care how much money i have to pay.

Honestly, even though he was talented, I thought Eo made Michael Jackson look bad. He was THE world's top selling artist at the time, and Michael's involvement only cemented his oddness by being associated with fuzzy little characters.

Wish we knew how long the run is because with college classes, I don't see myself making it to Disneyland before next summer.

But oh man, am I excited. I wish it was back sooner so the Christmas crowds could grove to "We Are Here To Change The World" and "Another Part of Me", but February ain't too bad!

I liked Captain Eo, Michael Jackson, George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola, but truthfully, the film was a disappointment. Considering all the talent involved, it should have been better than a cheap looking Star Wars ripoff. The songs were ok, the story weak, the special effects bad, especially the clay-looking stop motion animation of the robots transforming. As I said, to me it was ok, but if they improved the special effects to today's standards, it would cover the other weaknesses. If they did that, I would even welcome it as a more permanent attraction.
