Precisley. Walt Disney's been buying rights to various projects all his career.

Correction: Disney used to buy (primarily) literary properties that seemed appropriate for the Disney brand and then gave them the unique Disney spin. The current suits just buy properties, whether they fit in or not, in an effort to please stockholders. A bit of a difference there.

Hang onto your hats, kids. Now that the suits have gotten a taste for acquiring properties rather than creating them, there's no stopping them now. No doubt we'll soon be seeing the Smurfs mingling with the Seven Dwarfs and Pound Puppies cavorting with the 101 Dalmatians. Won't THAT make a pretty picture?

Well, Pirates of the Carribean, Alice in Wonderland...those are properties. They created them, as well as an entire thing of merchandising too, so...you know.

I don't know personally at all about this Marvel acquisition. I'm skeptical about it, since I said in another thread Universal is more suited for this than Disney.
