New Years Eve crowds prompt Disney to give free passes - Around Disney : The Orange County Register

Disneyland gets so packed on New Years Eve that the company is trying to entice visitors to celebrate at
Sounds like a 2fer program, both parks for $72, but you MUST use the first day at DCA (aka New Years Eve). Wonder how many they will sell.

Seems the market price of admission for DCA is $0. As it has always been.

Also, don't forget that Three different Radio stations are having "Dance Stages" that they have been promoting on air, and giving away free DCA ONLY tickets to their listeners in contests to attend the events.

      So more free tickets...

Hopefully that will change with World of Color. I wonder if they could come up with a great New Year's Eve version. (Drawback is that it would only be good for one performance a year) So more than likely won't happen.

More than likely, something like Fantasmic! where they shoot off some low level fireworks in the area, and then perform the regular show at 12:05 AM

Darkbeer, do you really think that WOC will change DCA's attendance that much? Will a 20 minute show really motivate more people to buy tickets and spend a day at the park?

I'm not so sure that WOC is enough, no matter how spectacular it is. I don't think you'll see a big growth in DCA attendance until Carsland is finished. Your thoughts? Your attendance predictions? (I'm curious about what you think will happen since you are so astute about these matters.)

I think WOC will make a huge difference for DCA, itll also keep the park open later.

Well at least people should be able to see the fireworks tonight. Did Disney have fireworks at DCA last year, or is this new this year?

I am working on my article for later today for MiceAge, and talking about the crowds in general and all the different things that will affect the attendance.

Come back in a few hours....

Well, me and my wife usually spend about half of our day at DCA (and I know that we are in the minority) but I really do think that WoC will bring at least a bit of an attendance boost to DCA. The AP's alone will probably take care of that. Carsland however WILL definately be a big draw in MHO.

Here are my thoughts in regards to crowds for the first half of 2010... Pretty much busy most of the time.

So the big question, with the bribes to steer people to DCA (the 2'fer offer), DID DCA sell out???? Was DL considered sold out for sales of tickets, or entry to DL blocked anytime during 12-31-09?

Disneyland was "Sold Out" in the evening on NYE, but they allowed Hand Stamps and Premium AP holders to enter. (no new ticket sells)

DCA was open to anyone, no restrictions. (Though they had a decent amount of attendance, just not "packed")

I honestly didn't think DCA was too bad last night. None of the dance parties seemed overly crowded, Monsters Inc was a walk-on and Tower was about 20 minutes at around 10:00pm.

We watched the fireworks from Paradise Pier and saw both the DCA and DL fireworks. It did seem more people were at the Sunshine Plaza dance party after midnight though.

In consideration of the fact that World of Color hasn't opened yet, I would say the increased attendance on New Year's is a harbinger of good things to come, Darkbeer.

DCA fireworks in conjunction with those of Disneyland is a great new addition to the guest experience! They should have did that a long time ago.

Well, you have to take into consideration that they couldn't anyplace around Paradise Pier for a DJ/stage area, like they have in ALL previous years, and with the fireworks display on the top of Bug's Theater, and nothing in Paradise Pier to see, the crowds would have piled in by the platinum sun, where the picture was taken -

I expect that the wharf are was full, too ~ was that set up with a spanish radio station like last year?

It would have been real easy for some of the crowds to head just a few feet away to the Hollywood DJ - Does anyone have pictures from the other areas in DCA, and the additional 2010 signage?
