I broke down and bought a ticket for the midnight showing next ThursFriday. I've never done that for a movie before. Really looking forward to it.

It was a little dicey at first--the video kept blacking out. And forget the UStream mobile app. I loaded it into my iPhone and it was pretty useless. It kept freezing and crashing. I had to bring it up on my computer at work (shhhhh). Eventually the video stream came out quite good.

I saved some screen shots from the webcast:

The rain-soaked green carpet in front of the Odeon Leicester Square in London.

Our English host, whose name I never did get, interviews director Tim Burton.

Barbara Windsor, co-star of the long-running British TV series "EastEnders," plays the Dormouse in "Alice in Wonderland."

Paul Whitehouse voices the March Hare, who Tim Burton urged him to play as a Scotsman with Tourette's.

From a princess to the White Queen, Anne Hathaway.

          Alice herself, Mia Wasikowska.

Playing Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the very funny Matt Lucas.

Michael Sheen (the White Rabbit) is staying busy with Disney this year, appearing with Jeff Bridges in the upcoming "Tron Legacy."

Alan Rickman thinks his character, the Caterpillar, is rude, but then again, so are all the other characters in Wonderland.

Helena Bonham Carter plays the Red Queen. Check out her red heart earring.

Johnny Depp, you're terribly late. Naughty.
Actually, he just spent a long time chatting with the crowd and signing autographs.

He said he played the Mad Hatter as a "human mood ring," always keeping his emotions close to the surface.

          Screen shots courtesy of UStream.

It was, very much. I appreciated that they kept it simple, with the announcer only speaking when he had something to introduce or a celebrity to interview. Between times it was just crowd ambiance and people watching. Such a welcome departure from the Oscar night mentality of someone talk-talk-talking all the time to fill up the empty spaces.

                  You are sooooo correct!

Walt Disney Studios UK put together a montage of clips from the UStream feed. It came out very nice (although at the 0:20 mark they misspelled "Dormouse" :whistling: ):

It just seems like the cast got along and really enjoyed the experience working with Tim Burton, but who wouldn't! So excited about seeing this movie this weekend!
