I'm still interested! I've been a fan of the Addams Family ever since I can remember. Add Tim Burton to the mix and I'm totally looking forward to it. Sounds like a match made in....well......the Addams Family cemetary?
It almost seems too obvious and easy as a choice from a style perspective.
At the Academy's Animated Feature Symposium on March 4th 'Coraline' director Henry Selick was indirectly asked about Tim Burton. He very pointedly stated that Burton while excited about producing 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' was not patient enough to be around for the actual work of stop-motion animation as a director.
This turn of events should provide a nice career challenge for him at best.
Will JD play Gomez or Fester?

I guess Burton has run out of idea's and can only take others work and point it in his view....kinda said to see an artist lose his creativity.
I agree. The original 60's tv show was based on a cartoon/comic, then in the 90's the movie was made based on the TV series. While I enjoyed the first remake of the original series, the 60's tv show had a certain campy, fun, quality to it. To do yet another remake of a remake, abet with a slightly different format has no appeal to me. Nightmare before Christmas was more original, and Alice in Wonderland, for all of its wonderful visual effects and new take on and old story... is just that. Same song, different dance. Bring us something totally new and original.
There was also The New Addams Family on FOX for 2 years in the late 90's, and there were two different cartoon series, one by Hannah Barbarra in the 70's, and another Addams Family cartoon around 1992.
And yes, John Astin was THE definitive Gomez!
