  • Kick-Arse (The Movie)

Saw The Movie and though it was great one of the best Super Hero films that I have seen in a while. (Dark Knight and Ironman being the last great ones). It was funny (not the funniest movie I've seen) and the action was great, for me it was very interesting to watch and the fight scenes did not get boring each fight had it own thing and did not seem like the last one.
Th Main character for me was great since he was a hero but still VERY much a teenage boy. I only think parents seeing this with kids and old people wont like this film, but for teens, young adults and some old people you will find this a very good movie in many ways and I hope we see more super hero movies like this.
    Happy Halloween!!!

      Saw it!
The film sits on the edge of a solid 8.9/10
It's a very platform date flic. Gore, violence, cuss vomiting and "chicken" teasing for boys.
Emotion, tears and situational fun for da girls.
Don't think of a gun as a weapon.
Think of it as a third arm that magically
      shoots bullets!

I didn't know they changed the title of the movie to fit a more British audience.

                Re: Kick-Arse (The Movie)

The pacing of the movie was good. The action scenes balanced well with the other scenes. It never became too slow, either. It did have a twisted sense of humor, some which I did enjoy. The story does draw you in with a normal high school kid trying to be a superhero, but then they hit you with this little girl, and her character so over the top that it reminds you that they are just taking you along for a ride ~ ain't nothing realistic about it, after all.

But definitely a word of warning: this movie is EXCESSIVELY VIOLENT!!! Much more than The Dark Knight. That is the one thing I didn't like about the movie.

It reminded me a little of Gotcha! (1985) and Mystery Date (1991), where a normal guy gets in - way over his head, with a "little miss sunshine" and "Dark Knight" tossed in. Yeah, a weird combination, but it works for a film that isn't suppose to be taken too seriously.
Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. Ya can't cover pooh with honey and 'spect people ta like it.

                  Kick A** Kicks A**!

I too absolutely loved Kick A**!
                  :yea:  :yea:

All the actors (including Nic Cage) were great, especially the girl who played Hit Girl, Chloe Grace Moretz. I thought the violence was comic booky, so that the violence itself didn't disturb me at all, though I really cared about the characters and was, consequently, highly engaged.

                    Re: Kick-Arse (The Movie)

I not only saw this with my kid (she's 15), I'm an old person (32) and I LOVED this movie. I thought it was just too hilarious. Hit Girl was my favorite character. My only complaint - I read the comic book first, so I knew what to expect. I think if I'd have gone to see this based solely on the commercial for the film, I would have been rather shocked and taken by surprise (in a good way). The commercials make it look like a much more family friendly film.

I enjoyed it. Very clever, very violent, and a somewhat different take on superheros.

P.S. I can't wait to see it again ASAP! There are usually only a few films a decade that I rush back to see for a second time. I'm not saying this is one of the best films of the decade, but--again--I loved it.
