  • How fast can you read?

Goblet of Fire, will be in the movie theatres in 12 days. I have been meaning to reread the book. I always like to have the plot of the Harry Potter books fresh in my head, before I see the movies.

I am a pretty fast reader. The Harry Potter books, read pretty quickly.
I read the last Harry Potter book, while on vacation at Disneyland. Doing most of the reading on the plane, going and coming back to Chicago.

So how fast do you read? Do you read a lo?. Do you reread books?. Do you like to see movies made about books?

Better get busy, finding and reading, my copy of Goblet of Fire.

it depends on the book...fiction written at a low level I read really fast. (danelle steele, sydney sheldon, v.c andrews...that type) non-fiction I read slower, but I'm actually thinking about what I'm reading...LOL..

Re: How fast can you read?

Yeah, it depends on the level of what I'm reading, how thought provoking it is and how "visual" it is. I was an extremly fast reader but I found I enjoy things more if I take my time with them. That can be said for a lot of things in life.

If it's only for information- quite quickly...but if i am enjoying my book---once I start, I don't see words any longer, but a movie, in my mind...so, to answer that on books I read for enjoyment, no idea.

I'm a pretty fast reader. I can crank out a good romance novel at about 200+ pages in about 2-4 hours with no interruptions.

When GoF came out I read it in about 6 hours inbetween mom duties. Laundry, children etc... I had some interruptions.

Too much ADD, so way too slow...

Not that I can't read at a decent speed, I can. Just can't go too fast or my brain won't comprehend what's going on. And I get distracted easily.

I read Spanish slightly slower than I read English.

              Read Japanese rather slow still.

I read gibberish fastest of all!

I read really fast. I love being a fast reader!
I read most of Harry Potter's last book on the plane from Chicago to L.A. I had three chapters left, I think, when I landed.
                Good morning, son
                In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                It was pain
                Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I am an avid reader. I love to read. I am the type of person that will read anything, especially when I am bored. But fast, it depends. Not really sure what the benefit of reading fast is. I enjoy reading, why would I want to get through it quickly?

I'm a speedy reader, and I can get through thought-provoking material quickly...since it's my favorite kind, really. It's all about the motivation!

Re: How fast can you read?

I have dyslexia... that would make you assume I can't read very fast, but they caught it when I was very young and taught me to read contextually rather than phonetically. I see a group of words and image out their meaning rather than sounding them out letter by letter. I can't write by hand very quick, and I never could handle numbers very well... I can't see them properly, but I can read super fast. I read Goblet of Fire in about 2.5 hours with remarkable understanding. I LOVE to read, it's pretty much what I do for fun.

I've always wanted to take a speed reading class. Has anyone here done that?
