  • Soccer - Disney's new synergy cash cow?

Interesting news has come out in the last couple of months...

ABC/ESPN worked a deal to air English broadcasts of the World Cup Soccar match.

ABC/ESPN then worked a deal to air MLS finals.

Now the latest escapade in Athletic film, Walt Disney Studio's presents - GOAL!

It is a film that has been in Europe for a while, and has done quite well...

Yesterday there was a press release that the trailer will air on ABC Sports

So someone tell me why ABC/ESPN killed NHL - Hockey for this?

Was it that Eisner didn't see he could get any more milage out of the Mighty Ducks?

Makes you wonder if Disney is going to purchase a Soccer team...

Goal did very well, and has many famous (well famous in the UK and Europe) British footballers in roles. Goal was made by Disney, and is part of a trilogy following an American-Mexican from an English football (sorry, soccer) team right up to the World Cup in the third film.

Do you know what particular English clubs have sold rights to ABC/ESPN?
