As announced in October 2010 another "Monsters, Inc.," film is scheduled for the 2012 holiday season, precisely Nov. 16.

"Monsters, Inc.," directed by Pete Docter, grossed $525 million worldwide after its release in November 2001.*

This week's rumblings on the film's progress from Disney Legend Floyd Norman:

Don't be afraid. Pixar screens "Monsters2" at Disney this morning. Don't ask. I know nothing.

Nice to see a new director helming Pixar's "Monsters2." Very refreshing.

Re: 'Monsters Inc. 2' - scary updates

I hope its good I lid the first film but a Prequel does not seem like it will have any suspense since WE KNOW what happens to Mike and Sully...rather have a sequel about "alternative fuels" might wake some people up in America.
    Happy Halloween!!!

        Disney Reveals Title for
        'Monsters Inc.' Sequel

        The "Monsters University" moniker
        was announced Tuesday at CinemaCon.

The sequel to Disney/Pixar's Monsters Inc. has a title: Monsters University.

Disney revealed the moniker at its presentation at CinemaCon Tuesday.

Monsters Inc. was one or Pixar's early hits, released in 2001 as the company's fourth movie. Pete Docter and David Silverman co-directed the pic, which featured voicework from John Goodman and Billy Crystal as fright engineers Sully and Mike Wazowski. The movie scared up $525 million worldwide.

Sully/Goodman and Wazowski/Crystal are expected to be back as will monster bad guy Randall Boggs (voices by Steve Buscemi). Disney has scheduled the sequel for a 2012 release.

The premise for the new movie is under lock and key although Disney said it will be a prequel.

Maybe it will be like a flashback or something. Like a bedtime story for Boo.

I take it this "screening" was more like storyboards, less fleshed out than the famous Beauty and the Beast screening.

Work-in-progress screening of footage for execs & WDAS brain trust, get the studio in Burbank pumped before hitting Las Vegas for the presentation for theatres owners, etc.

In all honesty, is Pixar trying to make a dud?

                      - Plot that's been done to death.
                      - With it being a prequel, it doesn't leave much room for any surprises.

It all sounds way too safe, and while Pixar has had a rather good track record...it's like they say "There's a first time for everything."
Disney and Universal fan for life!...Shocking ain't it?

I'm not crazy, now if you will excuse me I have tea time with the ghosts at Haunted Mansion.
