  • Pirates of the Caribbean : From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies

I figured I start a post here since I haven't heard mention of this book here yet. I found this at the bookstore at Downtown Disney last Friday and had to pick it up. It's an excellent companion piece to the Haunted Mansion book as it's by the same auther, has the same sort of layout, and follows the same narrative pattern as the first one. The first section of the book is dedicated to the creation of the ride, the second section is a detailed walkthrough of the various versions, and the third deals with the creation of the first movie. It hints at changes to be made to the attraction to better suit the upcoming movies, too.

Here's the Amazon.com page on it.

Cool! I have The Haunted Mansion book (though I love the ride, I hated the movie), now I'm going see if I can find this one.

I also saw the book inside the Off the Page at DCA today.

Does anyone know if my local Disney Store (which takes me two buses and Skytrain to get to) might have a copy of it, because none of my local bookstores have it and I don't think I can get it on amazon, since I live in Canada.

So what stores at the DLR can you pick it up? Because I know someone who's probably going to the DLR for just a day in the next month or so and if I could tell him what store to find it, then he could pick up a copy for me. I'm thinking either the Emporium or that bookstore in Downtown Disney (the exact location I'm not sure of- is it next to the cinemas?). But if you could tell me a few stores where it could be found- I could pass on the info and hopefully get a copy!

I got mine at the bookstore next to the AMC theater. But I've also seen it in the parks now, too. I think I've seen it in the animation building's giftshop at DCA, the music store on Main Street, and the Disney Gallery. You should be able to find it in one of those places, at least!

Same here. Saw the POTC book @ Disneyana last Friday night. Really wanted to get it but only had enough money for the week to buy gas for my car. Hopefully I will go again tomorrow and get it then.

I was in Florida when the author was signing copies outside of the ride in Adventureland, at the Magic Kingdom - no point in me telling you this really, because I was at Epcot on the day. I most definitely would have bought the book if I was in the MK on the day though - the Haunted Mansion book was good enough for me to consider the PotC one.

A good friend of mine has the book, and it is excellent! I highly recommend it to anyone POTC-obsessed!
