  • My Favorite Broadway Musical

    I have always been a fan of musicals of all shapes and sizes. I fall in love with the soundtrack, the dancing, the story telling through song. Once I am hooked on a soundtrack, I keep going with it until I know every song by heart.

    For the longest time, my favorite musical was A Chorus Line. I watched that tape about a thousand times without ever getting bored. My current obsession in Wicked!. I had heard a lot about it, finally got my hands on a copy of the soundtrack, and fell in love. I read the book and fell further in love with the story.

    Musicals make me all warm and fuzzy.

      I have the soundtrack for Avenue Q too. It is okay. I have to be careful to listen to that when the kids are not around.

      The one that still has to grow on me is The Boy From Oz. I have only listened to the soundtrack once. Maybe I should give it more of a chance.

      Chicago has made its way on to my iPod. I had forgotten how much I liked that movie!

        I've been addicted to the song 'Defying Gravity' ever since the Tony's. It's so right on the money.

        As for 'Avenue Q', I can't get enough of 'Everyone's A Little Bit Racist'. Good stuff.

        My favorite musical that I have seen lately has to be 'Hairspray'. (I haven't seen 'Q' nor 'Wicked' yet.) There's a song called 'Without Love' on the 'Hairspray' CD that I adore. It was such a highlight of the play when I saw it in San Francisco.

          Avenue Q will be opening in Las Vegas when the Wynn Casino opens up. It will exclusive to NY and Las Vegas only. I'm so excited!!

          My favorite Q songs.... Mix Tape or The Internet is for Porn.
          She walks in beauty, like the night
          Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
          And all that's best of dark and bright

                You could always talk about that in my Confessions thread.

                      The first live broadway musical I saw was Sunset Boulevard. I hated it so much. I was taking a Film Noir Lit class at the time, which meant that the film was still very fresh in my mind. The addition of music seemed to take such a dark story and made it kind of upbeat.

                      Beside that, I haven't seen any musicals live. Unless you count a semi-professional version of Singing in the Rain at my the music magnet high school my brother attended. They had real rain and everything!

There are just things that you need to talk to other women with. You may have the best relationship in the world with your husband, but there are just times you need your girlfriends. It makes for a healthier and happier you which makes everything else you do better.

                          I couldn't get into Aida for some reason. I'm sure that if I saw it, I would enjoy it, but I don't like the music.
