Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders and SWOOP head to Hong Kong for Chinese New Year

Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleading Squad and SWOOP have been selected to participate in the 2006 Chinese New Year Celebration in Hong Kong!

A delegation, including 32 cheerleaders, the team mascot and selected Eagles' representatives, will travel and join 40 local and overseas groups from all over the world to participate in the International Chinese New Year Night Parade.

Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the celebration features a spectacular international night parade, fireworks, flower markets, sporting events and more, and is one of the biggest in the world. Screened live on local television, as well as globally via satellite broadcasters, the event is expected to attract 500,000 on-site spectators and reach over 300 million television viewers worldwide. The parade takes place on January 29 in Hong Kong (January 28 in the U.S.).

    Cheerleaders Depart For Hong Kong

"Making this team was enough for me, let alone going to Florida twice for calendar shoots and to California for a magazine shoot," said Amy. "Now, going to Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year parade is awesome. Getting the chance to meet new people, enjoy a new culture and see how other people live and to be able to bring that back and share the stories with friends and family will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

Part of the Eagles delegation heading to Hong Kong includes the Eagles Television Network. Associate producer Chris Ubbens said that he wants to capture as much as he can so he can share it with the fans that are unable to be there.
