  • Retro Disneyland Slide Show... and more!

OK Disney fans, here's an event you DO NOT want to miss:

Charles Phoenix collects vintage slides and puts on very funny and entertaining shows using them. Vic and I have been to a couple of his presentations and have enjoyed them totally. Coming Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26, he will be presenting a show of vintage 1950's and 1960's slides of DISNEYLAND! These are slides he has gathered from thrift shops and estate sales, etc. He's quite adept at choosing the most interesting and often hilarious shots and provides an amusing running commentary. The show will be at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Tickets are $25 each. We'll be there Sunday. You can go here for more info:
    http://charlesphoenix.com

Also, March 19 & April 2, he will be conducting a walking / bus tour of Downton L.A. comparing the similarities between Downtown Los Angeles and Disneyland. I think we'll do this one too. It should be quirky and fun!

(Just to be clear, neither of us have any connection to either of these events. I just wanted to pass the info along.)
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

      Good morning, son
      In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
      It was pain
      Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

He has a good Disneyland chapter in his book "Southern California in 50s". I'd like to see that, as his books are good and funny. Besides owning SC in 50s, God Bless Americana is quite funny. He must have a wide range of slides, if he mentions the New Tomorrowland.
