  • Question about Disney's Board

Im in an investment class and my professor argued that disney had a very strong board. I said that I had heard Eisner had put one of his kids former principals on the board. He said I was wrong. Im not sure, I think i read that on miceage and it might have been Kevin Yee who said it but their archive doesnt go that far back. Anyway if anyone could confirm or provide a link to a news article that could prove me right, or provide other examples of the board having conflicts of interest or just being weak. If im wrong, Im wrong. dont hesitate to tell me.

    Thanks,

I do know people have been arguing to make the Board more independant of Management which I feel is extremely important... But Eisner was loading up the board with people who supported him over the last decade. That is why when they where looking for a new CEO, they really didn't look beyond people in the board room... Which is disquiting, but common...

I haddn't heard the principal story, but I wouldn't put it past Eisner...

      Found something

I found a link that shed some light on this.
Here's a quote "According to the New York Times, "the Disney board once included Michael Eisner's lawyer, his architect and the principal of his kids' school". "
      http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3482431.stm

It looks like Reveta Bowers(Principal) left in sometime in 2003.http://www.usatoday.com/money/2003-03-19-disney.htm

There is an interesting map that identifies members of the board of directors and what other companies boards they sit on... I don't know how often it gets updated... http://www.theyrule.net
