  • What's happened to the American Movie Classics channel?

It's a raining evening and I'd like to kick back and watch an old, classic movie. Playing tonight on AMC is First Blood (1982), What About Bob? (1991) and Tremors 3 (2001). These aren't "classics" and they certainly aren't old!

I know!! I used to love that channel! I just don't think movies made in the past 20 years can be considered classics!

I always felt that way too. They've been showing their version of "classics" for too long now. It used to be a great channel years ago! I just stick to TCM.

TMC and FMC are good for the old movies. and KQED (my channel 9) on Saturdays.

What do you consider classic? I love the old musicals,
          Meet Me In Saint Louis
          Gigi and
          Hello Dolly are a few.

          For non-musicals...
          Since You Went Away
          The Long Trailer
All of the Thin Man movies
All of the "Road" movies with Bing and Bob

          Anyone else watch these?

We have an old restored theater thats plays these on the big screen.
          Its so neat to go!

(do you think the Finding Nemo Subs line will be under 3 hours by then?)

I watch them all the time! Excellent choices. And how about a more seasonal "Easter Parade"?
Anything with Fred Astaire or Cary Grant is my kind of movie. Fortunately they play many of their films on TCM.

AMC needs to give up that name... they hardly ever show widescreen movies anymore, they put needless commercials in the middle... and all this while airing telethons to help film preservation! AMC needs to learn that film preservation starts in the home...

Of course, that is, if they still do that.

TCM and FMC are the ways to go. Just stay away from American Movie Castrators.
