  • Disney/Touchstone Reaches Agreements With Guilds on 'Lost' Mobile Content, 4/25/06

In what are being hailed as "groundbreaking deals," Disney-ABC Television Group's Touchstone Television announced Monday that they have reached agreements with the Writers Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild and the Directors Guild of America regarding production of "mobisodes" based on the hit television series "Lost."

The "Lost Video Diaries" will be original mini-episodes, delivered on mobile platforms, inspired by events occurring on the broadcast series.

The agreements establish wage and benefits standards for actors, writers and directors as well as residual payment schedules based on cell phone usage and Internet distribution.

This deal will create a template for future mobile content production agreements. Said Mark Pedowitz, president, Touchstone Television, "Partnering with the Guilds in these groundbreaking deals, we will continue to provide the best original content to our audience whether they are watching 'Lost' in their living rooms or catching a mobisode on their cell phones. We look forward to finding additional ways in which we can work together to experiment on a Guild-represented basis in this new digital media arena."
