  • So who is going to see 'Da Vinci Code' on Friday?

My brother and I have tickets (along with about 20 of our friends) to go see the 8pm screening this Friday. Who else is going to be going to see it? Is anyone going to be protesting it like it shows people are doing in the news?

I won't be seeing the film simply because I thought the book was awful.

Living with an artist, we're probably not going to see it opening weekend---just to avoid the crowds, but we will go see it. I, too, thought the book was complete hack in terms of writing. But when I read it, I felt it was like a Grisham novel--waiting to be turned into a movie. So the movie might actually be alright.

We're thinking we'll catch a matinee once the bruhaha calms down.

I would be if I had a babysitter for my daughter. I hope to see it on Saturday if my brother and his wife come down to visit.

Thank you. The book was full of thinly developed characters and the narrative was horribly contrived and manipulative (enough with the cliff hangers at the end of each chapter, already--get on with it!). I also couldn't understand why so many people in the story were trying to protect a secret so many other people were already in on.

I never understood what the fuss about The DaVinci Code was all about. It didn't shatter my concepts of Christianity. It was a work of fiction--and a poorly written one at that.

Still, I like Tom Hanks, so I'll probably see it on DVD.

My mom read the book to me, so we're probably gonna go on friday after she picks me up from work.

Well my church is protesting it, but im simply not interested in the movie. Plus why would I waste money on it when I can watch all the shows about it on History Channel?

You mean... the latest movie from the excellent filmmakers at Imagine Entertainment, with the fabulous locations, some of the world's most treasured artwork and spectacular international cast including Tom Hanks,
Audrey Tautou, Sir Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Paul Bettany and Jean Reno? Yeah, I'm in.

I'm in too! Well, maybe not Friday, but soon. It is entertainment. With Tom Hanks. I wish people would lighten up about a book that is fiction. It is just a book/movie.

DW already has her ticket. She and DS2 have read the book. I haven't, but I'm familiar with the premise. When DW buys the DVD (and she probably will), I'll watch it then.

As much as I love Tom Hanks (minus that Castaway ending debacle), I'm not planning on seeing this movie. I spent four years of my life studying Art History, so I'm pretty sure there will be SOMETHING in the movie that either I won't like or is historically incorrect. That will irk me to no end. That's the same reason I haven't read the book. I just can't bring myself to.

I can see me renting it on DVD sometime next year though.

Like the Priory of Sion being a French anarchist group that forged their documents? I know, not art, but still true.
