Buena Vista Home Entertainment’s The Incredibles won top honors as best of show at the second annual DVD Critics Awards: The Divine Nine, held Wednesday night at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, Calif.

The awards were part of the fifth annual Home Entertainment Summit: DVD’s Nine Lives, produced by Home Media Retailing magazine in cooperation with The Hollywood Reporter and DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group.

The Incredibles also was honored as best children’s DVD of 2005 by the panel of 10 critics from newspapers, entertainment magazines and DVD Web sites.

Other award winners include 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Kingdom of Heaven, best theatrical DVD; Mulan II, from Buena Vista, best nontheatrical DVD; and Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment, best collection or multidisc set.

Lost: The Complete First Season, from Buena Vista, was named best TV DVD release of 2005, while Rhino Entertainment’s Concert for Bangladesh won for best music DVD.

20th Century Fox scored a second win with The Sound of Music: 40th Anniversary Edition, picked by critics as having the best special features or bonus materials of any 2005 DVD release.

The elaborate Seinfeld: Seasons Five and Six gift set from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, which included a miniature replica of the show’s famous puffy shirt, won for best packaging.

The two-day Home Entertainment Summit ran May 31 and June 1.
