  • Mater like Tamater?

So this has been bugging me. In Cars Mater says his name is "Mater like tamater minus the ta" or something like that. How the heck would a car know what a tomato is let alone even care?

Cars don't eat them and they seemed to exist in a world without people or animals, so would vegatables exist?

Well, trucks are used for hauling veggies all the time....

          Tomatos are hauled on trucks.

Therefore, if Mater had towed a truck hauling Tomatos, he would have seen them there.

Besides.... why wouldn't he? Tomatos are all around us....

            Sure, maybe.

But the question remains, would tomatoes exist in a world without people or animals to eat them?

Oh, one more question, would their god be a car as well? Would heaven be a big parking lot? When that folk singer sung "they paved paradise and put up a parking lot" could she have been referring to an all car heaven? Why was this movie so much like Doc Hollywood starring Michael J Fox?

Wait, that was more than one question...

Already had a thread on that one. It's more like Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar, anyway... Drag show, drag racing. See the similarities?

Actually, it's "Tow Mater" without the "Tow".

And I think hell would be a giant car-wrecking lot/junkyard.

There are trees and other vegetation that are clearly shown in the film. So it should be safe to assume that tomatoes exist. The question then becomes what use does a car have for tomatoes? Gas is presented as the food of the cars.

I wonder what car Jesus looks like?

Big Idea has been struggling on that concept for years.... except with Vegetables.

If VeggieTales is having trouble finding the holiest vegetable.... would Pixar be able to solve the problem with Cars?

Must be the same reason some cars are called "lemons".

Very good point. Still, Mater is not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I find it odd that he names a veggie that would be obscure to cars.

Did he study farming in college?
