  • Avast, landlubbers! Thar be Happy Meal toys ahead

    Yep...that's right.

To coincide with the release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, McDonald's is releasing Pirates themed Happy Meal toys.

    http://www.happymeal.com/potc/

    There appears to be 8:
    1. Red Bandana that says "Pirates of the Caribbean"
    2. A pirate skull...I'm assuming it's going to be some sort of Magic 8-Ball-esque toy.
    3. Inflatable pirate sword
    4. Pirate plush
    5. Pirate telescope (I suspect this will show a scene from the ride/movie)
    6. Skeleton pirate plush
    7. Dead Man's Chest with Secret Key
    8. Journal/Notepad thing

Overall, I'm actually sort of disappointed. Disney and McDonald's have done some REALLY neat things in the past. Although I'm a teenager, I was hoping that there'd be at least a few things out of the collection I would want, but there's only like two. I really expected more of it to actually be germane to Pirates of the Caribbean, ride OR movie.

I think the Dead Man's Chest and Pirate Plush toys are the only ones I really care at all about.

    Reactions?

The "Aye Ball" and the Treasure Chest look like the only
decent toys in the whole lot.

It would have been cool if that was a Jack plush, but noooooo....

Out of the whole lot, the only thing I see even RELATED is the Dead Man's Chest...sigh...

        It IS a Jack plush-

I don't like any of them. Oh well-ok, I take it back, the Aye Ball is ok. I get Happy Meals often enough- so I am sure I will get some of this stuff, like it or not.

I guess it looks sort of like Jack, but according to the website, they sure don't SAY it's Jack.

All items were just reviewed by the 9 year old in my house...and she likes them all.

I'm partial to the Aye Ball...I think I need that.

I suspect I'll have to be eating McDonalds quite a bit in the coming weeks.
              Us girls, we're so magical.
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable.
              Hard to resist, so touchable.
              Too good to deny it.
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent.

Hey Kids, this is Advertising, baad grammar and a poorly designed site!

I do like the little Johnny doll and the skeleton one.

I guess that McD wasn't given lisence to use the actual characters. Bummer!
                Good morning, son
                In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                It was pain
                Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Aside from the treasure chest, those have got to be the lamest Happy Meal toys ever!

I am now the proud owner of a little Jack pirate plush doll- oh goodness, if only I could carry Johnny Depp around in my pocket like I can this guy.

Seriously- it's cuter in person. I still want an Aye Ball though argh!

                      A notepad??? A...NOTEPAD?!?!?!??!?

                      A bandana????

Jeez, it's enough to make one pine for the days of French Fry transformers.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

At least the notepad has a cool design on it. @_@

It's a bummer that they didn't try anything more elaborate with these toys. I mean...two cheaply and ugly looking plush "things" in the same set. Come on!

Anyways, in light of the movement against advertising Disney with junk food...how does this McDonald's deal fit in? As much as I love finding Disney swag in Happy meals...they're definitely far from healthy.

Me got me "Aye Ball" today, matey!

Asking the "Aye Ball" a question:

"Is this set of toys worth collecting"

Magic "Aye" Ball says: "The seas look rough"

you should set up a thread were people write a question and then you ask the aye ball for the answer, just to see how silly it gets.
