  • POTC2: Biggest Day In History!

BoxOfficeMojo is reporting that POTC: DMC grossed $55.5 million on Friday, making it not only the biggest opening day ever, but also the biggest single day gross ever. I'm guessing alot of Disney Suits are going to enjoy the rest of their weekend. I'm genuinely curious to see how big the final weekend numbers are.

People knew what they where getting too... More Jack Sparrow...

Every theatre I went to this weekend said that all their shows where sold out since opening the film... (Filling in Friday matenee's is quite impressive) I think Disney may have under estimated the number of screens needed to present this film...

Perhaps it would have helped if they actually cut the film down... that 2 hour 45 minutes was way too much... It was darn near uncomfortable... Plus it limited the number of screenings per day...

An amazing debut ... albeit for a mediocre film ... one that would have been downright awful if not for Capt'n Jack.

I thought the film was awesome, just as good as the first, not better, or worse. The only reason people say it's worse is because in the first one, the characters were new, everything was new. Which gives it a different feeling.

^^Not me. I thought this film lacked depth and character development and wasn't all that. The first one was a very pleasant surprise and I expected more from this one. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't all that good. I'm glad it's making lots of money for Disney, so hopefully it'll raise the stock price. But it just didn't do much for me.

^^ Seriously?? I thought there was significant development for all three of the principal characters (four if you include Norrington), and I thought there was a surprising amount of depth -- Lots of good stuff about making moral choices, looking within to decide what kind of person you're going to be, deciding how much you're willing to sacrifice/pay to get what you want, the cost of redemption, choosing life and death and all of that.
