    'Pirates' chest filled to brim
Sets 10-day record with $258 mil

    The Hollywood Reporter

The booty collected by "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" continues to be larger than anything the boxoffice has previously witnessed, but it still wasn't large enough to ensure that this weekend's North American boxoffice was bigger than the comparable weekend last year.

Buena Vista Pictures' "Dead Man's Chest" grossed an estimated $62.2 million in its second weekend in release, outperforming both of the two new releases by more than $40 million each and securing yet another record. The film's weekend gross was so strong that its Saturday night take of an estimated $24 million was greater than the three-day totals for both Sony Pictures' "Little Man," debuting at an estimated $21.7 million, and Universal Pictures' "You, Me and Dupree" with an estimated $21.3 million.
