  • Six Flags Captures Two Prestigious 'Best of the Best' Golden Ticket Awards - 8/28/06

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News) announced today that Amusement Today, the nation's leading amusement industry publication, has awarded the company two coveted 2006 Golden Ticket Awards. Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards annually rank the "Best of the Best" in the leisure entertainment industry.

Six Flags received top honors this year for the industry's Best Steel Coaster -- SUPERMAN Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England -- and the industry's Best Shows at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Six Flags Fiesta Texas has received this honor for eight consecutive years. These coveted awards, often referred to as "The Oscars of the Amusement Industry," are voted on by a panel of experts and enthusiasts from across the country.

This year Six Flags parks were named among the Top Five in seven different categories: Best Shows (Golden Ticket Award Winner Six Flags Fiesta Texas); Best Marine Life Park (Six Flags Marine World); Best New Ride/Amusement Park (El Toro, Six Flags Great Adventure); Best New Ride/Waterpark (Tornado, Six Flags Great America); Best Outdoor Night Production (Six Flags Fiesta Texas); and Best Park Concert Venue (Six Flags Darien Lake).

Six Flags also earned 18 spots on the list of the industry's "Top Steel Roller Coasters," including nine of the top 25 positions. In total, Six Flags garnered more Top 50 spots for its roller coasters than any other theme park company in the world.

"We are extremely grateful to theme park fans around the country for their ongoing support of Six Flags," said Mike Antinoro, Six Flags Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Marketing. "These awards make it clear that Six Flags is strengthening its position as the nation's thrill ride leader while at the same time delivering the very best family-friendly entertainment. We're dedicated to building on the success we've had in 2006, a transition year in which we began refocusing our parks on the family audience, and making the entire Six Flags experience better in 2007."
Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest regional theme park company. Founded in 1961, Six Flags is celebrating its 45th Anniversary in 2006. Six Flags, Inc. is a publicly-traded corporation headquartered in New York City.
