My sister Meghan lives in Colorado Springs and she has loved the Little Mermaid since she was pretty much born- this will make her entire life since she has seen pretty much every disney musical so far (including On the Record!)

    Thanks for the news DD!

I saw Lion King in Minneapolis when it was testing there before it went to Broadway. Be interesting to see how well they do this one.

Neph -- You were the first Chatter who came to mind when I read this. You'll have to give us a review since you'll be among the very first to get a look at it.

  • Denver Will Get First Look At "Little Mermaid" The Musical

Among the Quick Takes column in The Los Angeles Times this morning is the following item:

    "Little Mermaid" tests the waters

Disney musicals are popping up all over.

The studio's theatrical division, hoping to repeat the succes it enjoyed with "The Lion King" and "Beauty and the Beast," is developing a stage version of "The Little Mermaid." The production will open next summer at the Caulkins Opera House in Denver and feature the songs from the film, plus nine new songs by Alan Menken and Glen Slater.

Meanwhile, Playbill.com reports that the Disney Channel's hit TV movie, "High School Musical," is being adapted for a stage production at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. It is scheduled to run for 10 performances in January.
