  • 'Dog' the Bounty Hunter arrested. Will it appear on his show?

Talk about poetic justice. When I first saw the story I was wondering if he was charged with bad taste.

    Story at : http://www.nbc10.com/news/9850095/de...s=phi&psp=news

MSNBC has learned that U.S. officials have arrested TV reality star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two family members for extradition to Mexico.

Chapman's wife told MSNBC's Rita Cosby that heavily armed U.S. marshals arrived at the family's house today and took away Chapman, his brother, Tim, and son, Leland.

Cosby said she was told that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three year old case.

In 2003, the Chapmans went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on charges.

Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term, but at the time, the Chapmans were also jailed by Mexican authorities for a brief time three years ago.

Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.

At the time, the Chapmans were charged by Mexican authorities with illegally capturing Luster. The three returned to the United States after posting bail of their own.
    Growing older is manditory
    Growing up is however, optional

I do to. I think he is still a pretty positive role model for kids. He had, and probably still has the respect of his fellow Hawaiians and he is a really good christian. To bad this had to happen to him for getting a criminal off the streets .

It's just a show about Dwayne "Dog" Chapman, the Bounty Hunter, who goes out and captures criminals. The show follows him around while he catches people who have not paid their bonds or skipped out on jail dates, etc.

I just watched the story on msnbc.com.

On a side note, I can hardly stand listening to Rita Cosby. Her voice is SO annoying!!

Why in the heck is the US listening to freaking Mexico anyway??? They have long refused to return violent criminals to the US, so now our people are going to get in trouble for going over and capturing them ourselves? That he found was a rapist and deserved to be in jail.

His wife says that 12 armed US Marshalls broke down their door at 6 am this morning. I think that's a bit of an overkill! Sheesh.

Okay, I must be crazy. I could have sworn that a month or two ago I read a story about Dog dying in an SUV accident. Was he just hurt or was it one of his associates? Some other bounty hunter with a reality show?

Sure, but I don't think he wasn't allowed to leave Mexico. But I could be wrong.

However, I heard on MSNBC that the crime is a misdemeanor in Mexico. They reallly needed all those US Marshalls to bust into their home armed and that he needs to be extradited to Mexico? I think that's rediculous. Especially after Mexico has refused to extradite actual violent criminals back to the US in the past. We shouldn't be doing them any favors, especially for a non-violoent crime.

Re: 'Dog' the Bounty Hunter arrested. Will it appear on his show?

I am very familiar with the Andrew Luster case. He was a rich boy heir to the Max Factor fortune, and lived in a posh area about a mile or so down the coast from where I live in Ventura County, California.

I was reporting news at the time of the case...Luster was charged in the of many women using the so-called date- drug.

Here's a 2003 story of note from the Ventura County Star...

During the days after Andrew Luster ditched his trial in January, Ventura County investigators frantically dug through phone, e-mail and bank records to track him down.
They spoke with friends and neighbors about where the Max Factor heir might have gone and received theories about Bali and South America.
The one clue that seemed to indicate he was in Mexico -- where a bounty hunter ultimately found him in June -- was a call from his mother's phone to a Baja California residence.
Police had placed a trap on Elizabeth Luster's phone in Malibu, hoping to find out if they had communicated during his first few days on the lam. She had supported him since his arrest and continues to profess his innocence.
On Jan. 15, about 10 days after Luster fled, someone used his mother's phone to call Bajamar, Mexico, according to a search warrant affidavit made public Tuesday. There is no way to know who called, or who answered, and that was the only international call made from her phone between Jan. 1 and Feb. 5, based on records police reviewed.
The warrants, which Ventura County Superior Court Judge Edward Brodie unsealed at the Ventura County Star's request, provide an indication that while local law enforcement initially searched hard for Luster, their efforts ended up fruitless.
"It didn't pan out in the ultimate capture of Mr. Luster," Senior Deputy District Attorney Maeve Fox said of investigators' initial work. "It's a theory and it may turn into nothing. That's what those warrants show."
In all, the District Attorney's Office and Sheriff's Department filed 15 search warrant affidavits between Jan. 6 and April. Brodie agreed to unseal eight of them, although The Star had requested all of them.
The others provide specific details about people who might have helped Luster flee. Because of the ongoing nature of those cases, Brodie left them under seal but told Fox he wanted an update by Dec. 15.
In March, Brodie denied the same request by The Star, saying the case was still ongoing and that publishing information about it could hamper efforts to find Luster.
After he skipped out on his $1 million bail, Luster, 39, was convicted and sentenced in absentia to 124 years in prison. Bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman captured him in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, as he stood near a taco stand at 5 a.m., having spent that night partying at dance clubs.
Chapman had received a tip from a real estate owner in Mexico and pounced when the FBI was slow to respond. Luster is now serving his time at Salinas Valley State Prison. His appeal with the state Supreme Court is pending.
Note...Chapman was denied any of the bail money by the courts in Ventura.
                                        --Barry
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
