  • Gilmore Girls!

Sadly, my cable provider has decided not to carry CW channel, leaving me Gilmore-less, but with the help of spoilers and episode re-caps provided by the nice people at Fan Fourm, I will still know all that is going on.

I will say that all the spoilers that are out make me sad, because i'm a luke/lorelai fan, and I think based on the season finale, we all know what'll happen there.

What are your thoughts or hopes for this new AS-P-less season?

I just enjoy watching it. I'm not emotionally involved with any of the characters so I don't really care what happens.

I love GG but I havent gotten to this season yet -- the season 6 DVDs are coming out on Tuesday, so I'll have to get thru that first

        Re: Gilmore Girls!

I adore Gilmore Girls, and I'm so stoaked that the CW is going to be provided. I have a special connection to the show since my mom and I practically are Lorelai and Rory. I'm so glad the show is continuing.

        :: Sigh ::

Season 6 was the worst season ever, IMO. As much as I love and adore the show, the money isn't worth it for season 6 DVD's. Everyone was so OOC, and the acting wasn't nearly up to the par of previous seasons.
It's becoming too soap opera-ish, and the show is known for being the exact opposite of that.
With the new guy in charge, one good thing is that when he gives an interview, he's not nearly as cryptic as AS-P was, so you'll get more information and reasoning behind his answers.

What cable company is not offering it? That stinks.

I agree though, last season was the worst season, so hopefully this season will be great. I'm kind of hoping with new writers, etc this season will be great.

Time Warner Cable in Cincinnati couldn't reach an agreement with CW, so it's only available is you have Dish Satallite, which my family doesn't care for.

They still have alot of returning writers, they've said, plus two executive producers from Everwood have joined the staff, so that might help.

If anyone ever wants spoilers, let me know and i'll give you a link or two. I'll try my best to put them in spoiler boxes if I do feel like ranting on a spoiler.

I was never really emotionally involved with the show until last season when I really sat down and watched the episodes (and as much as I hate to admit it, fell asleep once or twice), plus I watched the re-runs on ABC Family so that caught me up pretty quickly.

TV on DVD is what netflix is for hehehe

I think as a season, season 4 was the crappiest. At least, the first half of season 4 (when Rory first goes to Yale) was really truly awful. Not fun, not funny, not emotional... the episodes ended with me going WTF?!? Thats it?!?

But, it picked up and got really good by the season finale of 4.

And I do think Rory's current boy toy is incredibly hot. I have a friend who is a production accountant on the show, says that Matt Czuzchy or whatever his name is is a really nice guy. I'm trying to finagle a meeting, lol ... (He also says that Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson absolutely HATE each other in real life. And that Alexis Bledel has a serious line memorization problem. As in, if she looks like she's reading from a cue card, that's because she is.)

Still the best season was 3, imho. Back when Rory was still living with her mom, the town was still center stage, and Lane wasn't dating that total idiot.

I didn't mind season 4 as much. Season 6 was worse, trust me. It made season 4 look good. I agree though, the end episodes of season 4 were good (the last 3).

I agree that Rory's boy toy, Logan is a hottie But I still say they need to bring Marty back, he was good.

I've checked every possible channel, and no luck. The newspaper had said that no agreement was reached, and may not be until 2009. I'll do a search and see if I can find the article.

                          Re: Gilmore Girls!

From Cincinnati.com website: (as of late may 2006)
                          CW network update
The people commenting on my blog last Thursday was right: If you want to see the new CW network – to watch “Gilmore Girls,” “Supernatural,” “Smallville,” “Girlfriends,” “Smackdown” or your favorite WB and UPN shows – start calling your cable system now. The new CW network won’t be on regular over-the-air TV here. Channel 12 will broadcast it as digital Channel 12.2, only available to those with digital TV receivers. So Channel 12 is talking to Time Warner and Insight about carrying the channel, as the cable systems do for CET’s digital channels and WLWT’s weather channel. By law the cable systems don’t have to pick up all the local digital channels… so demanding consumers will help get a deal done between Channel 12 and the cable operators by the fall TV season premieres.

We don't have digital TV, and i've called my cable system and asked about it, as well. But still no deal so far

                            A tag-team Tuesday

The CW hopes the established `Gilmore Girls' from the defunct WB
will help ex-UPN laggard `Veronica Mars' find its audience.

Cute sci-fi boys on Thursdays, African American comedies on Sundays, wrestling on Fridays: The CW's schedule is Frankenstein's monster, with salvaged parts from the WB and UPN contributing to the mishmash of a body.

On Tuesdays, the combination of "Gilmore Girls," formerly of the WB, and "Veronica Mars," born of UPN, is designed to provide the new CW network with both brain and heart. The shows are similarly smart and snappy with a dark streak and present sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking insights on coming of age with a single parent. And in a television landscape that is either fueled by testosterone ("24," "Two and a Half Men") or winkingly post-feminist ("Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives"), the spirited, independent-minded female leads of "Gilmore Girls" and "Veronica Mars" offer a rare alternative.

Measured in business terms, the shows are at opposite ends of the success spectrum. And whether one show can help the other find a wider audience is a yardstick by which the success of the CW will be judged.

On Sept. 26, "Gilmore Girls" will begin its seventh — and perhaps final — season, having finished Season 6 with an average of 4.4 million viewers. As the second-most-popular show on the WB, there was no question that the mother-daughter fan favorite would be a key asset in the CW's quest to corner the advertising market among 18-to-34-year-olds.

I'm so sorry you won't get to watch this season, I know what a fan you are, joshrzmeup!

I'm looking forward to this season. It's my first "live" season, since I didn't start watching any until last fall, when I bought all the DVD sets. And even when I was all caught up, I was never able to watch, because I always have book club, Bunco, and school meetings on Tuesdays! This year, that's all changed, so I'm hoping to be able to sit there and watch the shows.

I prob won't buy Season 6. It was pretty sucky, esp. when Lorelai and Rory were out of touch. Rory's bday was especially hard to swallow.

I can't stand Paul Anka and April. I wish someone could just wake up and the entire season was a dream.

I really hope this next season gets rolling. Last season just seemed to drag on and on. And I didn't think any of the characters acted like themselves. Like what was with the subdued Lorelei? And Rory just got plain annoying towards the end (the Valentine episode especially). I really really have high hopes for this season!! GG don't let me down!!

Believe me, lots of fans feel the same way. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw lower ratings for this season, I had read alot of tv critics that said (towards the end of the season) if Lorelai ends up in bed with Chris, then that's the end of the show. (some people are still wondering if it was considered cheating if she didn't have the ring on anymore, but we don't know if she did or not) It won't be worth watching anymore.
Once the spoiler for that episode leaked out, I noticed that the ratings took a sharp turn downwards. People had said tha AS-P ending her term with her show with an episode like that is her way of giving the middle finger to millions of loyal fans of the show, and leaving a mess for the new guy to clean up.

And why even bother with Lane and Zach? Their little wedding took up an entire episode.
As for the 'turtle' aka April, AS-P had said that it was either give Luke a kid or put someone in the hospital (which she did later anyways). I think that's when the show turned into a soap opera.

I definitely have the TiVo set to record this season, but I don't have high expectations. Like most people, I hated season six. The addition of April was definitely the shark jumping moment for the show.

In a way I'm sad that A S-P is gone, but on the other hand it will be interesting to see what someone else does in her place, since she's the one who brought us April.

I hated the way Luke acted about April. I hated the way Lorelei let him act that way. I hated the way I ended up liking Logan better than I like Luke.

Ugh. I keep watching the reruns on ABC Family and saying, "see, THERE'S the Luke I love!"

Not that I feel strongly about a mere TV show or anything.
