Hello gang.

I haven't been able to post in ages, my new job keeps me sooooooo busy, working very full long shifts and I rarely get a chance to post or interact but I miss it!

The biggest reason for my absense recently- one of my reporters was attacked several weeks ago. Many of you probably saw the video, it was one of the most popular searched items, beating our Paris Hilton's arrest.

I know the media is not a well-liked enterprise by many who accuse them of being liberal, conservative, nosey, pushy, etc. but I could not even fathom, the amount of people who believed the reportered deserved to be attacked, I wanted to post this sooner and get the take of Disney folks on this attack.

I think that's ridiculous. I mean I know the media can invade privacy and stuff, but all that couple did was prove that the allegations of him being a violent and dangerous man were true.

Glad to hear the reporter's okay and still on the job. I think all three are very brave (camerman, Mattes, and Phillips)

Gosh, how unfortunate. I feel bad for the guy, that's gotta leave a mark. Although appearances on the Today show and Larry King is milking it a tad, but of course, that's news. And I suppose the publicity from this helps his job security.

An anchor doing a live election night report here at another station claimed to be assaulted by workers of a local politician and was fired shortly afterwards. Never was any word on if that was true or not, if it was it certainly wasn't filmed, and he certainly didn't look as badly beaten as the guy in your video.

I had searched for the thread but somehow "reporter" did come back...maybe in another forum.

So this is what we know:

*John Mattes had uncovered an alleged scheme back in July, by which this couple were buying real estate under the identity of other folks, renting these new properties out and failing to pay the mortgage.

*Mattes had not touched the story in weeks until a report from a man name "BK" that he had been physically assaulted by this couple. John was interviewing BK on private property not owned by the couple when he was attacked by them.

*They are both free on bail and are being charged on a host of allegations and face 8-12 years in prison for the attack alone. The District Attorney is still investigating the fraud, but more than 3 of 4 dozen e-mails have flooded my office with new allegations across the country against this man.

*The couple was evicted from their La Jolla mansion that they were renting, after failing to pay rent.

*They are allegedly violating their restraining order according to several wittnesses who has seen them lurking near the homes of several people in that same neighborhood as BK.

*Sam is a naturalized citizen from Afghanstan. He trained in an Israeli martial art called Ka Mic Graw (sp?) When it looked like he was slapping John, he actually was using a trained move to knock the wind out of John. The martial art also focuses on gouging the eyes and the check, which is exactly where he went as seen in the video.

*The wife Rosa is here on a green card from Mexico, her immigration status has been frozen pending the investigation.

*John is out on medical leave from complications.

This is just horrible, I hope that dispicable (sp) couple gets what they deserve to the fullest extent of the law.

Thats the crazyiest part of the story for me. We sent the footage to New York the day of the attack and the next day we had phone calls from every major news outlet across the U.S. He had invited to appear on nearly everything you can imagine including Leno. He did Good Morning American, The Today Show, Anderson Cooper, Larry King, etc.

The worst was that the Tucker Carlson show skipped right over him and interviewed Sam Suleiman who even after all this national attention- believes he was justified. It was the most insane interview I have ever seen.

The publicity didn't end there and we just sat back and watched as the world devoured the story. The attack has appeared in every major news network across the world except for Al Jazeer. A Japanesse tycoon offered to buy the rights to the video and John's story for future movie deals, it was crazy.

We received over 5000 emails, several thousand calls, and it crashed a national database run by Clear Channel who runs our website!

Yes thank you, the gentlemen we were interviewing BK had been attacked the week previously, Sam had allegedly bitten him, removing a chunk of flesh from his chest, as well as several deep bites to his shoulders.

According to public records this is his third assault related arrest this year alone. He has over a dozen restraining orders, including two from his current wife Rosa (the woman in the video)

I hope this time he will be denied bail...

The guy needs to spend some serious time behind bars!
