Beast or Tarzan?

I will be in New York in two weeks and want to see a show. I have seen the Broadway version of Beauty when it came to Pittsburgh and loved it, but my husband didn't see it. (He was babysitting.) He saw the first half of Tarzan but had bad seats and had to leave before the second half.

Which should I see? What if I could get great seats for Tarzan and bad seats for Beauty, then which one would you chose? Should I buy in advance or take my chances the day of the show? (Friday, Ocober 6th.)

Mary Poppins doesn't start till the 16th and have seen Lion King on tour in Pitt and, believe it or not, was not that crazy about it. (I know, I know, shoot me now!) I really want to see Disney and not any other shows since I have seen many touring productions that were great.

Any opinions? Thanks!

It depends on what you enjoy, tarzan was more stunts and Beauty is more dancing and singing. It depends what your more interested in.

I have not seen Beauty and the Beast, but saw Tarzan, and BPF absolutely loved it! I thought it was good. But, if you're intersted in seeing a more "traditional" show, I would stick with Beauty and the Beast.

Well. Depends on if you want something new or not. I LOVED Beauty when I saw it (despite the fact that Belle and Chip were pretty bad actors, but I have over the top standerds cuse, well I AM an actor...but other then that...golly it was fantastic). I also love the soundtrack for the new Tarzan musical. Very Pretty. I myself am curious at how it all plays out on stage. If you want great seats I would order ahead, unless you are willing to be at TKS in Time Square HOURS before hand, and even then it wouldn't be a promise. But if you are willing to take the risk, wait till the day of. Might make your decision for you. See what they have for both shows and pick from the better seats! I have fun! Not to be cliche, but I LOVE NYC.

TKTS at Times Square doesn't have tickets for Tarzan. If you go directly to the theatre you can probably get good seats for $100 or more. There's really only about 2 rows in the theatre that would be considered "bad seats", and even that's not too bad since July, when they installed video screens for those rows. Those rows (in the orchestra section) are under $60.00.
I (and the teenage girls with me) loved Tarzan. I would see it again over Beauty. The shipwreck scene is amazing imo.

B&B without a doubt. I loved it. Tarzan was over rated at best.

I'm not a big Lion King fan either. I must say go with Tarzan as I would love to see it again. :cgrin: I wouldn't be one to listen to reviews since I beat to my own drum on things. Especially since you didn't really like Lion King, I'd just make the decision on your own Nancy.

Thanks everyone for the advice on which show to see. This time out it will be Beauty. Having Donny Osmond in the show cinched it. I have loved him since I was a kid. My husband has already promised me another trip to the big city so we can see Tarzan. But by then Mary Poppins will be showing. What's a girl to do?

I fell in love with the Mary Poppins musical the second I put the soundtrack in...AMAZING! I can't wait to see it!!

And you should deffinetly do a review of Beauty and the Beast...I've seen it before, but I'm always intrested in other people's opinions!

I saw Mary Poppins in London. AMAZING!! My husband and I are taking the kids to see it in April in NYC since they didn't go to Europe with us last summer. (I already bought the tickets.) When you go back, definately see MP. I'd pick B&B over Tarzan for your first trip even though you have already seen it.

ORDDU: Well, I just don't see how ANY woman could choose anything else to see besides TARZAN!! Just think of all that hard muscle swinging over your head! Just imagine the appeal of a well placed loin cloth! And just hope and pray that--while you're seated down front near the stage--a vine breaks so that you're favorite jungle hunk comes flying into your waiting arms and lap--
