Disney or Princess?

I recently returned from my Princess cruise to Alaska and I absoulutely loved it. Since I discovered a new love for cruising and I'm completely obsessed with Disney, I thought "How awesome would it be to take a Disney Cruise!" Has anyone been on Disney and Princess cruises or just Disney? If you have which do you think is better?

Done both. In fact we took the Sun Princess to Alaska end of August. Fun! Disney is adding Alaska soon and we're hoping they will stop at our port in Astoria when they transition the ship each year..Anyway..If you love total Disney immersion you would love a DCL trip. You know diningrooms on most cruise lines are kinda the same. On a DCL cruise you
dine in a differently themed dining room each night and your waitstaff moves with you so you have the same people taking care of you. The
outside cabins are cool. Windows like hugh portholes! Size of cabin about the same as Sun Princess. There is a stage show nightly like most cruiselines, but on Disney of course you get a Disney live show which beats the heck out of the same old song and dance shows on other lines.
The quality of the food is comparable (which isn't saying much). Food availability is not as good. On Princess when you want to hit the buffet it's open 24/7..We were surprised to find this not true on the Disney Magic. If you didn't get up early,you didn't get breakfast! Perhaps they've changed that (I hope) The buffet is very good otherwise. On Disney ships on sea days you can drop into the very comfortable movie theater on board on see Disney/Pixar/Touchstone films playing. Shopping onboard
is limited to a small cluster of shops (similar to Sun and Dawn Princess)
As to the issue of having someone elses children under your feet the whole cruise: Doesn't happen. There are adult decks outdoors and the childrens pool area completely separate. And there is the ocean club for kids which operates from the time the kids are up and dressed in the morning until they are ready to crash that night. Its a very good program and the children seem to love it. The real difference between Princess and DCL comes in two areas. 1) Disney is more expensive on average and 2) the crowd on DCL tend to be a younger demographic.

Have you tried RCL? We've cruised on three of their ships and really
feel it's a superior experience to either Princess or Disney in every way.

I've only been on acruise to Alaska with Holland America. I found Alaska kind of boring, but I would do it again if Disney has a ship coming out of Seattle (which it sounds like they will be doing in the next few years). My mother has been on many cruise lines says that Holland America has the best food. She has not been on Disney yet.

I've been on Holland America twice and am good friends with a few of the captains (my mom's a travel agent - and best friends with a few captains' wives). So, I've absolutely loved both cruises - and the food is exceptional.

I'm still dying to try a Disney Cruise - and hopefully will get to in the future! Just to be surrounded by disney for a few days at sea would be awesome.
